Hard to say, I have a flatmate and we shop together but both of us eat out quite a bit separately. Probably about £2k eating in between us.
Now if you include beer that's a whole different issue! |

Yes and the establishments we eat out at are some what expensive.
However, everything else is homemade, and I can't honestly see how anyone spends just 2k per year. |

Yes if we took alcohol and fags out per month it makes a huge difference.
Ours being £600 - 800 per month for the above. |

I do about 2,500 but that don't include the cheeky snickers bar's & cherry every other day  |

It's television - they didn't go into those details. The voice over said food, including takeaway and eating out. Quite a lot of it appeared to be chips. |

I'd say our supermarket shop would come to about 8 grand a year.
That includes food, drink , toiletries etc. We occasionally eat out but we rarely have takeaways.
Booze would come to about 2k a year but that doesn't include pub visits. Christ knows how much we spend in there. |

I'm a terrible spendthrift and probably spend about £4-5k a year on food (eat in, takeaways and eating out). This is over the top and I need to get myself in hand as I get fed every evening. |

I only go somewhere "nice" to eat about once every six/8weeks the other times its lunches are pub food.

I'm a terrible spendthrift and probably spend about £4-5k a year on food (eat in, takeaways and eating out). This is over the top and I need to get myself in hand as I get fed every evening."
But as said, we are with food at home, but if you smoke and enjoy wine for example that then makes the majority of your expense. |

According to my club card points a few year ago I did 4k in tescos in 6 weeks
If me and kids go out for dinner you're talking easy £100 we like fine dining Sunday dinner in our house sets you back about £40 alone I'm £40 a week in work canteen (mostly ends up in bin it's rotten) school dinners are £45 a week I'm £30 a week for after school care for snacks £30 for childminder in morning for breakfast if you take into account school holidays giving kids money to eat out etc s few times per week while I'm at work
The majority of my shopping bill is food I'd say 15-20% is other household goods my pals crack up at the amount I spend but then they smoke drink go clubbing but clothes we enjoy eating out as a family I love to cook !! |

Now if you had said how much to you spend on non food items a year it would be different. I probley spend getting on between £15+ on bleach, deodrants, toilet rolls toothpaste ect a week, i am obsessed, ive got my own mini toiletries shop in the bathroom. A massive ottaman and an airing cupboard full to the brim of stuff |

I've just spent just under £100 to stock my freezer with meat, enough to last 1 month, no ready meals or suchlike. I'll buy a bit of fruit and veg too... so I reckon I probably spend 2,000 per year - give'r'take

Must say if we hit a seafood restaurant or go to teppanyaki lobster and scallops are kids good of choice and the meal easily pushes £150-200  |

Must say this last four months I've been trying to experiment in lidl but tescos is far too convenient with long hours and travelling I get home about 6 and like to cook a meal every night we leave at 7am so shopping isn't high on my list tescos I can get everything at once yet I still manage to go at least four times a week
The worst thing I will admit to worse than what we spend is the food we waste I throw out loads I had good poisoning once so I don't take any chances last week the kids left freezer open all night a cpl things started defrosting whole lot tossed out I often feed the street I always cook for the masses and make massive portions we never finish but we eat very healthy balanced diet I wish I could budget and plan better but I'm
Afraid it never happens I like to be spontaneous with the kids and just bigger off somewhere when I'm not working and we never take a packed lunch which would save us a fortune lol |

i work with a man who takes a flask to work so he can take hot water home to wash-up. he also brings his sunday roast in to cook then takes it home so he doesnt have to use electricity. now thats a scroodge! he's pretty well paid to! unbelievable eh!  |

Yeah I do sometimes think wtf and alot if my friends ridicule me for it saying its too extravagant and am i trying to pretend im someone im not most of them won't try anything but then they can spend £100 on drink out clubbing and rarely spend any time with their kids I've just bought all my kids skiing equipment and hiking equipment last year tents etc and again it's oh check you out trying to be posh oh yeah and what's your idea of a day out with kids ? Soft play or pictures where mum and dad sit using free Internet on Facebook whining about how hungover they are !! Yup I'm admitting I'm turning into a snob lol |

Lobster and Scallops will never be more reasonably priced, and will never be more popular....simply because the vast majority of families cannot afford to feed their children such high end foods.
Lobster and Scallops haven't just become expensive recently....they have been that way for decades.

My friend owns a trawler fish factory and several fish shops from Aberdeen to Perth and the mark up in price is unbelievable by the time it gets to shops a friend who owns a restaurant in Thailand pays pennies in comparison for his seafood
Although have to admit free scallops a few times this year know done guys who are going to teach me to dive they drop me off a few in passing |

Lobster and Scallops will never be more reasonably priced, and will never be more popular....simply because the vast majority of families cannot afford to feed their children such high end foods.
Lobster and Scallops haven't just become expensive recently....they have been that way for decades.

I think I spend about £1400 to £1600 a year.
This is, in the main, due to the fact that:
a) There is just me
b) I very rarely buy alcohol
c) I know the times when the local supermarket reduces everything to the point where its legalised shoplifting.

We probably spend about 5k on food in a year. I love cooking so we don't buy processed foods and I tend to go to the butchers and fruit/veg shop once a week and cook our weeks dinners and a couple of pots of soup and then it's easy enough to phone the kids when I'm on my way home from work and say right bung the lasagne etc in the oven.
The older kids will usually help themselves to some soup if they are peckish and all 3 don't like breakfast cereal so we make flapjacks on a sunday night and they eat one in the morning with a glass of milk or a hot chocolate and a piece of fruit.
My oldest son just started college this year and is working part time and he buys himself frozen pizzas and bottles of I refuse to buy them lol xx |

If its just food I probably spend very little. Maybe 1k. I have 2 jobs and am very lucky to eat for free. As I'm there for 30 odd hrs at times that's breakfast , lunch, evenin meal and breakfast the next mornin if I want it. Not sure how much I spend on booze lol. |

What do you think your annual food bill is?

Fook knows lol when I was single before I had kids I was about £200 monthly shop and between work and takeaways I'd spend another £30 week easily on the essentials like milk bread but then I'd spend about £50-100 a week on nights out drinking so I can't for life of me figure out how anyone who isn't single can spend so little as 3-5k I can imagine you all picturing me about 40stone but I'm not lol I'm average my kids are slim in fact my middle child looks practically anorexic but eats like a horse !! |

I even tracked back through 4 years of gas and electric meter readings to graph out my past usage vs cost per unit. Its useful when changing suppliers every year!

Haha don't worry the reason I know how much I spend is when I managed to pay 3k for a holiday in 5 weeks and thought how the fuk did I manage that where did it come from then started totting up everything and nearly died yeah I know I've got a good wage but when I added up what goes on childcare and bills then looked at what I was spending rest in I nearly died lol |

I got M&S vouchers and I went food shopping with them and actually think I got more for my money than tescos ! Not in terms of quantity which was actually alot more than i expected but quality, I didn't have to throw anything out because it kept fresher longer |

Our shopping bill varies depending on whether we need to buy cleaning products etc, as we tend to bulk buy, as well as stocking the chest freezer. We cook a huge amount at home, with only the occassional take-away, and as a rough guess, bearing in mind there are four of us all over 17 (make it 5, son eats for two lol!)its about 2,500 a year. Seems like we are doing ok, looking at some expenditure on here lol! |

I was the same bit have been trying to venture into cheaper products did try when kids were younger to swap Heinz brand for shops own and kids took allergic reaction oooops and decided to stick to what I knew lol trying now with lidl to reduce the shopping bills but its a chore to go there I think I need intervention I'm feeling more and more down reading this thread I need to get some of you to come teach me how to shop ! |

I use a good little local butcher for most of my meat products and we both work for supermarkets so get 10% off in both tesco and asda but still spend a fortune! I went to morrisons on Sunday to pick up chicken breasts and somehow managed to spend £56  Thats when it's dangerous - if I do a meal planner and write a list then I don't do too badly but if I pop in ad hoc i spend a bloody fortune xx |

about 2000 a month .. but i do have 10 here some nights in the week , I have my 4 one 19 20s with other halfs living here and 2 just moved into there new house ... two more go in next 6 weeks as doing up there new home .. we pay for everything when living here so thay save for houses and things .. will feel weird when all go , lol |

I was on holday in the US once and saved more than I spent. The total food bill was $100 or something and we payed $40 or so.
All we did was buy the offer items. I actually get a cheap kick out how many items Ive got in respect to how much ive paid.. you can usually get 50 plus items for less than £40 - which means less than £1 each, makes me happy - as very naff as that sounds! |

flippin eck reading some of these posts I was quite shocked at how much people spend on shopping!!!!!!! under tens eating lobster, spending more than I get paid a month on one meal, Give them a treat by all means bit lavish if I may say so!!! Its nice to see though that children are eating healthy, sea food is good for the brain plenty of omega 3  |
