Embrace this summer shite...

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Today I woke up slightly happy, no idea what I ate last night.

I'm normally someone that despises the summer, for a multitude of reasons but I'm fairly sure I suffer from SAD, except mine is brought on my blue skies and warmth.

But today I feel like I may just try and embrace the whole summer thing. I even bought a bikini, I may lie on a beach (for about 10minutes then I'm burnt to a crisp), I may attend a BBQ or two, drink prosecco outside. Even do these smoothie things and go all healthy.

Is it fun? I hear people say it's fun.

I will still swear at all the cyclists holding me up everywhere I go though, that I can't change.

(Anyone know how many days till the clocks go back by the way??)

I find summer ok, it’s the forced jollity of others that’s the pain.

Good luck with today, hope it gives you whatever you need

Have a hummus and kale smoothie every morning. Organic obviously. Wouldn't want any inorganic vegetables.

A bit of kundalini yoga to awake your chakras.

Then spend some time thanking a deity for everything beautiful in the world.

Weep like a widow for those that suffer. Thoughts and prayers really help.

Congratulate yourself for bringing your positivity and empathy to the collective conscious.

And you are ready to embrace the joy of summer.

Simples

Ah do you know what? I'm definitely an Autumnal girl at heart. Love it all, the crisp mornings, Halloween, snuggly jumpers and socks, the food. The seasonal drinks. Halloween. Stomping in leaves.

But I don't know. This summer feels different. Hopeful. Wear that bikini, drink prosecco in the shade of a tree so you don't get too much sunlight and explode into ash. Add alcohol to your smoothies.

I'm going to be going on adventures. Wearing cute summer dresses and a bow in my hair. I can't wait for dusky evenings flirting with beautiful people.

Basic bitch summer style.

Summer is great:

People complaining they are too hot,

kids running around screaming,

stuck at work,

light nighs (wake up extra early), light evening (can't get to sleep until it get dark).

Not to mention pissed up blokes walking the streets showing their larger lumps.

I quite like Summer to an extent. The lighter mornings and more sunlight definitely improve my mood but once it gets to the inevitable 30 degree heatwave that we don't have the infrastructure to deal with, I wish it would fuck off.

But a big reason I like Summer is because it means I can't wait for it to get cooler, the leaves start turning, the longer coats come out the run up to Christmas begins!

Embrace it. Come over to the light side. You can cheat on winter; he'll never know - he just sits there all grey and miserable anyway.

Everything glows (mainly my skin, which gets a weird green tinge without sun); strawberries; tennis; wayfarers (a winter accessory too, to be fair); lounging in the garden; not having to decide how many layers you need all the time; dry shoes.

The only thing that makes me doubt myself is that my dog doesn't like it, and I do trust his judgement implicitly.

I'm more an autumn woman.

Summer

Noisy kids.

Noisy neighbours.

Chavs topless.

BO stench everywhere.

Pvc and heat don't go well.

Everywhere decent to go is ram packed.

Oh and the men who walk one hand in their pants then go opening doors, I don't want sweaty bollocks when I touch a door handle, what's that all about?!
