An insult describing a person who has fallen for someone and gone soft. Example: “I can't believe how much I fancy him, I'm acting like such a melt” 2. A wimp, a loser. |

I didn't know it in that context, I just thought it was a modern "wet" (which I know itself means something very different to what it meant when I was younger! It's a minefield!) |

"I always thought that as it can be used to describe some offal it meant the person was the innards of an animal. That is only in my head though "
I associated it with Tuna Melt. I love a Tuna Melt. |

It stems from the seaside. Its unacceptable to let your ice cream melt, you have to lick every piece. People then started to identify as magnums so eventually melt became an insult to them. It was passed on through other humans and the rest is history.
Yeah pretty sure that's it. |

It's just the natural progression and evolution of spoken language. New words are "invented" to cope with new situations and new tech etc, like the word "selfie". Words like "wicked", "bad" and "sick" used to refer to something bad, now they are also used to refer to something good. "Swingers" also used to mean something quite different! It's all groovy and rad. |

Why can't we use it? I'm going to use it all day. |
