Porn is so Fake

This is a common criticism levelled at porn. It's often used as an argument as to why someone won't bother watching it... That's fair enough, porn is pretty fake.
What I find odd, is that the same criticism isn't levelled at any other forms of media such as films and Television quite in the same way it's levelled at porn... maybe aside for wrestling.
Why do you think that is?

I think that maybe people like to believe that their sexual endeavours mimic what they see in professional porn but are disappointed when the reality is quite different and therefore they criticise it. I've seen many who say they prefer amateur porn but don't realise that the majority of "amateur" porn on sites like pornhub are actually professional performers who make it look amateur to cater for that market. |

Like wrestling, which arguably has homoerotic undertones, what people do in porn isn’t generally what they do in real life. My musings...
As a reason not to watch it, I prefer a well acted believable film most of the time and so porn that I can pretend is real, while knowing it isn't, is more appealing.
I think the reminder that it's fake is important particularly for young people with little experience of real sex. TV programmes might not have quite the same impact on someone vulnerable.

As a wrestling fan, I'm always happy that what I like compared to porn 
But I think it's because it looks real enough to imitate and therefore sets unrealistic expectations from a sexual encounter. And because people can't imitate it, they annoyed at porn because it's set up in a way that's real. |

That is true, young people that watch porn thinking it's what real sex is like, is a problem. Most young people watching porn are likely aware that is indeed fake though (maybe not to the same degree that you or I know it to be fake).
Most young people know that Friends is fake, and that no one in the real world actually behaves like that... But no one criticises Friends of being fake.
It's just a bit of an odd disparity between "regular" shows/films and porn.

I always thought that everyone always knew porm, like all entertainment, was fake and acted out by paid performers.

That's an interesting point... porn actors are often seen/known as the persona they adopt when they perform, and I guess by extension believed to be that person all the time.
Jenna Jameson doesn't change character when she stars in a film, she already is the character she's going to play.

A bit off subject, but I’m not so sure that some people don’t think that there are people who live their lives like they do in Friends.
There are plenty who envy the American lifestyle (God only knows why) and their only experience of it is through TV and films.
