Im going to see a doors tribute band in October, so is that strange? Going to see a band pretending to be my favourite band? I know ill never see the real doors so is this a alternative or just fantasy? Have you seen a tribute band and enjoyed it? Or was it weird?

Not at all. Myself and a friend are off to watch an orchestra playing Ibiza classics and find it soo much calmer than going to a club and feeling squashed In the crowds

It’s only strange, if faces come out of the rain. Or when no one remembers your name, then it’s strange, straaaaange.

There's a 2 day tribute festival in my town that's all tribute bands.

It's called Sommerock...

It's very popular...

I will not go to see cover bands after a very disappointing Rammstein “tribute”

Where were the explosions?

Are you kidding me no explosions, if I can't feel the ferocity of blazing heat on my face, it's not comparable to Rammstein "Fire Frei"

My thoughts Exactly!! I heard a Slipknot tribute only had 5 members too! Sacrilegious!

But to answer the OP, me and sister took my mam to a hologram show of her favourite artist. Now that was strange and weird and not in a good way

Cost of living crisis has impacted tribute acts, just like the size of a bar of chocolate!!!

I saw a Neil Diamond impersonator who was amazing. It was like watching the real man.

Personally Op, im a big fan of tribute acts.

Some are very good.

They play the hits of the singer/band they are tributing.

Not trying to promote new material.

Smaller more intimate gigs

And a fraction of the price.

If in doubt, just google the act you are going to see, and watch videos of their performances.

Yes in Ibiza years ago when a Scandanavian Bee Gees tribute band called "The Gee Bees" blew our socks off as they were pitch perfect.

If you closed your eyes you couldn't tell them apart.

I went to see a Nirvana tribute playing their MTV Unplugged album & as you can guess from my profile and username I'm a big fan.

The lead singer did sound very like KC, if I closed my eyes I could almost imagine he was really there

Nothing wrong with going to see a tribute band. In many cases the members have retired/died so it's the only way you can enjoy their songs in a live setting.

I think that there’s a place for tribute acts, if the real band no longer exist or play.

Beatles or the doors for example make sense. Id have no interest in seeing a tribute to a current band or performer.

I think that is a bit weird.

Singing a song is ok, but dressing up as the artist is a no for me.

See tribute bands all the time. Some are so good you'd argue it's the real lineup messing about for a laugh. Some are that bad you hope someone pulls the wires from the amos

for a penny

I’ve seen a band that played Beatles stuff and a band that played Eric Clapton stuff. Neither tried to look like the people they were emulating and both were good.

What is weird is trying to look like someone else.

I saw Aussie Pink Floyd (the best Pink Floyd tribute act) a few months and it was actually fantastic.

The songs sounded just like the albums.

They played all the songs you wanted to hear.

They nailed it.

I'm sure your Doors cover band will do the same
