Any Fabbers into gyms and weight training on a regular basis?

What do you get out of a good session, and how long have you been into it?

For me the benefits (aside from the physical) include very balanced moods, enhanced day-to-day energy and a nice sleep pattern.

Happy Easter,

Nat

I’ve been training for around 10 years, still look like shit but it stops me going mental and punching everyone I come in contact with.

Been training since I was about 7,never really stopped.

It's never a chore, I like the benefits which includes a great sense of calm

We're quite rare (for our gym anyway) in that we go to the gym and work out together as a couple. We like to stay fit and it helps stop our old muscles wasting away

I train 4-5 times a week. Not only do you feel more awake after it’s also a great stress reliever

Unfortunately no time for gyms, I'm a daily living room fitness participant. After a year off due to weight related health movement problems, now it's dropping off again, muscle toning is achievable

After I got a stress fracture from running, I switched to weight lifting, helped a little with the mental side of things, but never gave me the same stimulus. Then went to CrossFit and found it was the perfect blend of both types of training. Would love to run again, but I’m waiting on surgery before that can happen

We both go to the gym.

Mental health and get fitter and stronger.

Only time I can switch off and listen to music.

Off and on since 14 been interrupted by illness a few times. Train 5 days a week but sometimes drop to 4 when recovery is down. Love it can’t imagine ever not doing it. Progress is slow after training so long but still striving for it is fun

Also need to say it does benefit mentally tremendously but on the flip side too much of your mental well being becomes wrapped up in how you look physically and if for any reason you lose that it can be hard to deal with the times illness has stripped me of size I couldn’t stand the sight of myself and it was quite depressing, got into training as was a real skinny youngin looked ridiculous at 6’2” and 9 stone yet and inch shorter now and 16 and half stone and still feel too skinny 99% of time those insecurities never really go away

We both train about 4/5 days a week.

Mainly do for the mental health aspect, but just enjoy it tbh. Can’t stand sitting in the house watching crap TV for hours, much rather get out and about.

I've always maintained a pretty decent shape since I was a young teen, did a little working out home with bodyweight exercises throughout my life but haven't been able to really push past my eating disorder until last year

I really struggle to gain mass unless I'm packing in 2500-3000 calories a day which is stupid expensive for me

I do it for the functionality, the aesthetics, and to build my self confidence. Also having a good physique makes fitting clothes nicer, a good fashion sense and my clothes sitting on my body better are pretty important to how I want to present myself

Nope , never was tbh , never will be , my own body weight is plenty for me to be training with but l do of course wish everyone that uses a gym the vey best wishes, people use them for loads of different reasons and they look forward to the same

Somewhere

30 years I've been training. Competed at a decent level in strongman, international level powerlifting and held a few records over the years.

Don't compete any more as it's too much effort, just lost my mojo for it.

Still train to keep in decent shape.

What's that quote button, Hovis?

On the OP, I've always been relatively fit - and grew up playing lots of sport. Weight training sporadically when I was younger (and now regret not being more knowledgeable/disciplined about it), but have been weight training consistently now for about 5 years.

I do it as I like the sense of achievement, and learning new skills - have been mastering the Olympic lifts over the last year. Probably underestimate the MH benefits, as I always feel like I could be better, but who knows what a mess I'd be if I didn't go! Would like to lose a bit of fat so I could say I did it for the aesthetics too!
