What’s your favourite pie.
Just recently there was a top ten printed somewhere that I obviously wouldn’t know because I’m not that much obsessed with the wonderful food type of pie.
I’m looking for those mentioned that was on it.
Also, I don’t mind a bit of controversy…. A fish pie?
Also, mushy peas is the only way to eat a meat and potato. |

I'm really sorry to sound boring but I love a traditional and robust Shepherds Pie. It simply evokes the longing and anticipation of Autumn and everything Autumnal. When it's perfectly made you only need a smidgen of hearty gravy.
Eat it besides the log fire until the embers die down, wash it down with a fine red or mulled wine and then walk it off with a gentle stroll against the bracing breeze.
I'll shut up now. |

"I think you’re right Woody, meat and potato pie and mushy peas, glorious."
This is a staple of any man who has watched a lower league football match. |

Couldn't agree more. Swap the red wine with a nice pint of Guinness though. |

I’m partial to a proper steak and ale. But, as has been said above by some wise contributor, pastry has to be on’t’bottom ‘n’all.
None of this stew with a lid nonsense.
Apple pie for pud. With custard. |

Chicken, leek and bacon is peerless.
I make one from a Tom Kitchin recipe. It has all the most amazing, unhealthy ingredients - white wine, cream, bacon lardons and a good whack of tarragon. |

There's so many pie's to choose from, all got their different textures and tastes, I like most of them to be honest, I'm going to say minced beef and onion for me and I know the mister likes a steak and kidney one. |

Shush, ex-wife, be silent and rejoice in the pie! I'm on a roll here! "

"Baked Alaska pie
I generally think only steak has any business being in a pie. The one concession being Baked Alaska. Agreed, that's a great pie. "
Now she knows when a pie is a good pie, steak and Alaskan , |

"Banoffee pie
End thread "
Number 1
This was number one. You can’t just call something a pie and it becomes a pie!
It’s a crime that this beat a steak pie.
And no chicken in the top ten? Pfft. This is why I should have my own competition.
*please send pie pics to my inbox. |

I was going to add that once you've finished kicking the leaves from that Autumnal stroll there's nothing better than a Fig & Cinnamon Pie, served with a Spiced Rum Crème Anglaise.
End the evening with a smug-inducing glass of barrel-aged Port. |

I revoke my earlier compliment
I'll accept cottage pie?! I find pastry pies/pasties too stodgy "
Woah woah woah woah woah!
Pies, fine. We can agree to disagree.

You see, the word “Pie” immediately brings sweet connotations to me. Delicious sweet fruit pie.
Cherry or American Apple Pie (can’t stand tart Bramley apples, sorry! ) the the British winning addition? Lashings of custard!
If it is savoury pies we are talking, then a delish cottage pie… |

Someone who’s talking sense here.
What could be better than a good cottage pie with apple pie and custard for pudding |

The most important part is, it needs to be homemade. By someone who can cook obviously. The filling, gravy, pastry ratio has to be bang on.
I do hate a dry pie ( )
Steak mushroom & ale
Chicken with tarragon
Also cottage pie is one of my favourite foods. It really is a gentle hug of a meal.
And pork pie…. Yes please.
