The pets looking smug, as it usually means they are up to no good.
Like this morning, came downstairs and found the cat stretched out on the sofa with a smug grin on her face.
Then I discovered I left a bag of discounted cooked ham I bought for the pets unpacked in a plastic bag, and she managed to dig it out and ate the whole lot!

a thud like someone has fallen - my dad collapsed with flu when i was quite young - made quite a bang in the bathroom - whenever i hear a similar sound takes me right back to that moment |
