So.. It’s coming to 5 year’s sobriety, I don’t know how I feel about it.
You could say numb? Happy? I don’t know, I have many regrets about what I’ve been through. But I’m forever thankful & full of gratitude that I am one of the few lucky ones who have been able to remain sober.
For anyone who’s been (or) going through such thing, please don’t ever hesitate to reach out.

Very well done to you. I’ve not struggled with addiction personally but have several family members & friends who have/do and seen them go through it, and not always succeed. It’s not easy! So that is quite an achievement. |

I was never a problem drinker in terms of volume, but I gave up about 4 years ago now. Drink did have a tendency to turn me into an even bigger dick than I am usually. I don’t think it’s made much difference overall to be honest but I won’t go back to it. For those who are struggling with it though, I wish you good luck. |

Ive supported many people with addictions O.P, so 5 years is a great milestone and here's to many more.
Being sober from alcohol is the hardest of all addictions and as you point out not many make it.
here's to life.

I'm delighted for you OP and you should be chuffed to bits on your soberversary. Are you doing something to mark the occasion?
As a fellow sober here, I'm in year 3, I get how much of a milestone this is. And possibly some of your journey to get here.

Congratulations and well done!
Hopefully you’ve found something to replace alcohol with.
For me it’s been extreme, high adrenaline sports.
Not sure if I’ve had more bruises and fractures sober than I did when I was p*ssed but life is great! |

Congrats OP,
Prior to covid I was 4.5y sober, fell off during that window, but aiming to get back.
It does change the way you feel, but for me, and I hope you agree, there were more positives to sobriety on the whole. |

Well done. Thats an amazing achievement.
I'm not much of a drinker as I've seen first hand what it can do to people. I lost both my patents to alcohol.
Stay strong x |

You should feel proud OP and celebrate the strength you have every day. I work in recovery and see people struggle with their demons. I don't think a lot of people understand how hard it can be to overcome, especially something so readily available and advertised in every other shop.
Be kind to yourself and know you are who you are today because of what you went through |

TRIGGER WARNING)
Well done and keep going
I lost a family member last year to alcoholism, it’s not, a “good death” (yes I do often support “good deaths”).
I personally, don’t drink alcohol and haven’t for around 8 years. If I do, it’s maximum 2 drinks.

Well done! It's not an easy battle to fight, and the Demon pops up every now and then. I know, I fight him reg. Don't want to steale your thead, just add to it, hopfully.
Being a dry alocholic. Not sure how long this time, but a good 4 years, I think this time. I still have urges that creep up. Its a real battle and fight not to give in. Just 1 drink, and I'd be back to a couple of bottles a night. So I'm a alcoholic, who dose not drink, hence I'm dry.
This time round, I'm detirmed to stay dry. The weight loss, the better health, and being a nicer person also helps. Not to mention saving the money.
Well done, keep going. Those of you thinking of giving up, try it, one day at a time. |

Well done my friend.
I gave up alcohol on the 29th of May 2016.
Had a couple of lapses on . Took my last line Jan 2018. Went from drinking a bottle of JD and doing 3.5g 4x a week to clean a sober.
Just wanted to acknowledge you. It's a hard but rewarding journey. Congrats |
