So there's no woman with daddy issues who has ventured into it in a bid to discover confidence and learn more about herself?

"Family, neighbours, work all know. We’re lucky enough to be able to be out in the open. We know not everyone can or wants to be. But if we can help show that regular people can do this, we think it’s worth while. Of course some will be put off. Some will want to meet us because of the show. Most won’t give a shit. Having done a previous tv show - it certainly hasn’t changed our lives. We’ll cover that in our podcast but essentially we wanted to normalise the lifestyle. "We genuinely think it ls worth trying. If we can make a slight difference or change people’s perceptions - we say do it. Not suggesting we represent everyone - but we believe in this community, the benefits and the relationships we’ve made. As a result we feel a moral obligation to stand up for that. It’s the same reason we did the other show, the podcast, social media etc. Not defensive at all - just answering your questions. When we signed up we didn’t think we’d be able to mention the show. Believe me I completely understand your need to educate and inform. But, I'm not sure a TV programme where you have very little control over the outcome is the right way of going about it. Surely a more positive way forward is to discuss the matter with people on a face to face level. Having been around this scene for over 20 years and the Fetish scene for over 30 years I am more than happy to openly discuss the joys, benefits and negatives of a hedonistic lifestyle. Personally I think it's a thing that people come to of there own accord.

That’s a lot of face to face chats, maybe they could quit their jobs and do a tour, would that satisfy you? You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this (having not even watched the program) and are coming across as quite rude in my opinion.

" With any form of media their is a core target audience that will watch it. In social media we talk about narrowing down to niche audiences so as to better serve algorythems to recommended to people who are going to keep coming back. The problem arises in that period who are into swinging or who are more open will watch the documentary with those who are not into that niche will not watch it. However you may reach a small number of people on the fringes of the core audience, or thorough as good marketing or word of mouth. That's why it's so hard to move broad audience.

Nope! Not paid at all So what was your motivation in doing it? We don't listen to your podcast, it's not our sort of thing. Having not watched the programme, and won't be watching it, did your pod cast get a mention? There is no need to be defensive. I was only curious as to what your motivation was and I'm assuming that pod cast publicity was part of it. And do you honestly think you made a difference? Believe me I completely understand your need to educate and inform. But, I'm not sure a TV programme where you have very little control over the outcome is the right way of going about it. Surely a more positive way forward is to discuss the matter with people on a face to face level. Having been around this scene for over 20 years and the Fetish scene for over 30 years I am more than happy to openly discuss the joys, benefits and negatives of a hedonistic lifestyle. Personally I think it's a thing that people come to of there own accord. Er, I’m not sure face to face discussions will have the same reach as a national TV show. That’s a lot of face to face chats, maybe they could quit their jobs and do a tour, would that satisfy you? You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this (having not even watched the program) and are coming across as quite rude in my opinion. Reach and quality are two very different things. Having watched several other, so called documentaries, in the past. I believe that all they do is seek to serve a shock in the same Manor as the tabloid press do o occasion. And since you don't know me you are confusing my approach, which I'll agree is direct, but not rude. Of course you are, as we all are, entitled to your own view. This show did not seek to serve a shock. I’d say 2/3rds didn’t - I think the doll thing was very much served to shock. Which is why it was so odd to have it in there. " Do you? I think that they didn't represent swinging but I think that what they were doing is catering to a market and blooming good luck to them. But I don't think it was shocking
"I watched on catch up this morning and really enjoyed the peek into how other people approach the Lifestlye/Swinging/ENM. I thought that Bed Hoppers and Vistas came across really well and it was a really positive programme. Slightly surprised they had sandwiched in the couple with the sex doll - didn’t feel that their “story” fitted the narrative really as it seemed to be purely a money spinner for them. Whereas for the other 2 couples shown (and countless people we have met), Swinging is used to enhance their sex lives and create/be part of a community (amongst many other things obviously). Bed Hoppers - please keep on doing what you are doing - you are absolutely helping to normalise Swinging and therefore increasing the number of people who we may get to meet " We couldn't agree more with you. The bedhoppers are an excellent example of overcoming adversity and being comfortable in their own (beautiful) skins. Anyone following their journey from the early days will remember being outed and the impact that initially had on them. To share that, and with the programmes since shows what an altruistic couple they are. They clearly aren't in it for the money, yet they champion what many, ourselves included are too scared to. They really are a great couple to listen to and would be a recommended listen in our book for their podcast for those who haven't.
It was honestly all altruistic. It sorta did but it didn’t cover it fully. It was in the show but not really mentioned. For folks who aren’t watching the tv show, you certainly have a few questions! Hedonism isn't for everyone and I'm quite glad it isn't. Running with the crowd is incredibly boring, whereas being a tad different makes a person interesting. Of course if you are looking at something from a business perspective then that's a whole different ball game, a game where numbers matter Yeah I see where you're coming from but it still won't be socially accepted for a long time if ever though. Just maybe slightly less judged if you appear to have sane people talking about it. I actually agree that being accepted is not going to happen anytime soon but I'm not worried about being accepted. Many people we know know about our lifestyle, including family and I'm sure they make judgement on us and that's up to them. We like being different, we do the normal things that everyone does. We work, both have good responsible jobs, we pay our mortgage etc etc. This part of our lives brings the that something that gives us that little something that makes us feel different and in our book different is good Yeah you are good law abiding citizens who just happen to be sexually deviant. It's still niche and will be, not going mainstream anytime soon. They will probably have a laugh about it on Gogglebox or something but if it helps 1 couple who are were unsure about trying it. It's not a bad thing. " And good luck to them
"Are the Bedhoppers actual real people?" Yep - we do exist!

"Overall we thought the show did an ok job. There was probably a little too much only fans stuff - and the doll element wasn’t swinging at all - but broadly the messages were in the right ballpark. Personally we’d much rather a smaller focus on the actual sex and greater emphasis on the friendships and community - but you can’t have everything. We felt it was better than most TV efforts on the topic. From our experience on a previous show, these things do generate a low level of interest - with a number of folks reaching out to find out more and ask questions. There really isn’t much of an uplift to anything that we produce - from podcasts to twitter etc. What it does do is get people talking about it and that’s normally a positive thing. We get the worry around normalisation. That said - we feel very strongly that no one should be persecuted for pursuing the swinging lifestyle. But we’re not in that space as a community at the moment. People can still be fired from their jobs, avoided at interviews and can still lose touch with family over the difference in approach. That will only change with better understanding, real conversations and normalisation. Of course, everyone should still have the right to privacy if they so choose. We’d rather talk about this stuff in the open and represent things where we can - as not everyone gets the opportunity or can afford the risk. Anywho, this is becoming a ramble. Thanks for the kind messages (for those that had them) - much appreciated. Hope everyone found something to enjoy with the show." We thought you did a fantastic job at representing us as a community, Thank you Diolch

"I'm not sure how normalising it (i.e. making the wider population more accepting of it as a hobby, lifestyle etc.) would restrict it to a set of rules or make people feel excluded. Ideally people would see it as wider branch of non monogamy - within which there are a variety of approaches. And I don't think it's possible to represent everyone in an hour long programme, with that in mind. Curious though - what would have represented you better?" For us a wider acceptance of the different ways of being a swinger. In my opinion people tend to take the way something is represented as the norm

It was honestly all altruistic. It sorta did but it didn’t cover it fully. It was in the show but not really mentioned. For folks who aren’t watching the tv show, you certainly have a few questions! We’ll cover that in our podcast but essentially we wanted to normalise the lifestyle. Try to do our part in showing that it’s fun, can enhance your relationship and you can make amazing friends. "
"I think we mentioned that people do it differently at least a couple of times. I suspect it was difficult enough to get anyone on camera though, let alone a wider representation of approaches. However, you can't show everyone all of the time - and you do have to start somewhere. I'd love there to be a series which explored the whole gamut and take in lots more approaches, backgrounds, ethnicities and so on. But baby steps eh? I'm not sure how normalising it (i.e. making the wider population more accepting of it as a hobby, lifestyle etc.) would restrict it to a set of rules or make people feel excluded. I'm genuinely not aggressively criticising but voicing my view of the show. It's provoking discussion and that can only be a good thing, no?
