Controversial question...
What are peoples thoughts on blocking people after a message of you are not attracted to them physically?
Bad form or acceptable?

"Acceptable. Stops any further messages that may or may not end in abuse
And if its a polite/respectful message? "
Still acceptable. If I had a quid for every polite message that was then followed up by abuse after not getting a response I’d have enough money to buy some nice new shoes |

It's fine, people can block all they like - I've been blocked by people on the forum who I've never spoken to so I assume some people also do it based on what you say on here! |

Perfectly acceptable - but what irritaes me is people who send you a message, good bad or neutral, or a fab, then block you to prevent any response?
WHY!!!
Fortunately my memory for this is short and they are quickly sent to Room 101 where they are forever forgotten! |

It's how we roll.
Hell. We block when we're browsing profiles if we see someone that'll never be what we're looking for.
Cuts down on searching time and does them a favour too as it means they'll never waste their time looking at us or trying to message.

Completely acceptable. not everyone is for everyone and even in the case of a polite, respectful message, with a polite no thank you response… the same person often tries again after a couple of weeks. So a block can just act as a ‘repellent’ so to speak |

"Whats your personal thoughts on blocking OP? "
Well generally I only block if it is someone who is outside of my specified preferences...
However I usually reply to all messages (I don't get many!).
Just wondered if there was a Fab etiquette... Lol
Beautiful pictures by the way! (don't block me!) x |

Acceptable.
I’ll get the same generic message copied and pasted week after week. The no response isn’t sending a clear message of no interest. I do feel some people feel entitled to a response. I’m quicker to block now |

I do occasionally whack the block button due to forum posts.....but it's rare and reserved only for those truly deserving.
Pretty sure you're unlikely to join that happy throng.

Poor form.
It's awkward if you run into somebody you have blocked in a club.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
Perfectly acceptable, as it stops the back and forth of...
"But why?"
"Because I'm just not attracted to you"
"I'm way better in person, I'm just crap at taking photos"
"But I'm not attracted to you"
"But you might be in person"
"I don't think I will be, why waste both our time?"
"Well, I'm only offering to meet you out of pity, I figured you must be desperate you old cow / ugly bitch / fat slag"
"Lovely. Happy fabbing"
... or equally fun conversations.
If you just say no thanks, not for me, and block, or delete the message, or whatever, as long as you aren't rude in the message, it's perfectly acceptable. |

Exactly this..
Also if I send a message which then gets deleted with no return mail, I’ll block |

We find blocking completely acceptable, we probably have more couples blocked than singles too. We also expect to be on plenty of others blocked lists as it's quicker than writing notes on every profile you have taken the time to read, digest and know that you just aren't compatible. |

Surely that is a logical strategy. It makes perfect sense from an evolutionary point of view. A resource rich environment is desirable, I would have thought.

Completely acceptable. The reasons to block someone are immense, how people run their profile is entirely up to them, if they choose to block you that is their choice whether you see it as acceptable or not.
I find it is a great way to filter out who you are interested in and who you aren’t. |

With couples its always the guy that blocks me as he knows I’m funnier, better looking, and a world class shag and he feels intimidated - its a shame as the women normally know nothing about it then go to message me naked pics and a phone number to find they’ve blocked me!! Single women who block me - i just put that down to them not wanting to fall in love with me and its just self protection… tons have already - just in case… can’t blame them when they realise just how much awesome can be fitted into one body!! It stops abuse in some cases, the amount of babies who can't take a polite no , such pathetic behaviour. Can't take a no online imagine they won't take no for an answer in person, gross
I don't bother replying, so rare I need to block. I only block people pushing their fetishes and dicks in my inbox now

You can be respectful with a polite no if you ain't attracted to someone. Doesn't mean you can't still be friendly or block it's personal choice.

Its a little 'weapon' isn't it, look at all the profiles with this 'threat' in them. If someone's abusive or being a cock, then yes, I concur, block, but most people are just messaging nicely, (I hope). If they're not for you, then just say so in a brief reply. |

On the subject of blocking.....
The one feature I love on the old desktop version of Fab that hasn't migrated over to the mobile version relates to your block list.
On the desktop site it tells you if (and how long ago) you added someone to your list. Useful if you can't remember who blocked who. I went to add someone a couple of days ago only to find they were already there.
Checked on the desktop site and seems we'd (most likely me as opposed to Fox) had blocked them 8 years ago.
On the mobile version it simply says blocked, but not who did it or when.
I wish it did.....

Blocking is a nuisance when used as a matter of course by forum user.
Although I might have no intention of ever messaging people, I sometimes want to check their biography in order to get some idea of what makes them tick and work out why they have commented in a particular fashion. Looking them up doesn't mean I am going to bother them.
Some people are so up their own backsides that they think everyone who looks them up is going to send them a 'Hi WUU2? message! |

"Blocking is a nuisance when used as a matter of course by forum user.
Although I might have no intention of ever messaging people, I sometimes want to check their biography in order to get some idea of what makes them tick and work out why they have commented in a particular fashion. Looking them up doesn't mean I am going to bother them.
Some people are so up their own backsides that they think everyone who looks them up is going to send them a 'Hi WUU2? message!" yes - Hi Sup? Is much more efficient. |

"Acceptable. Stops any further messages that may or may not end in abuse
And if its a polite/respectful message?
Still acceptable. If I had a quid for every polite message that was then followed up by abuse after not getting a response I’d have enough money to buy some nice new shoes
I would have enough to buy a shoe shop!!!!
You mean you don't own Whitby Cobblers? "
I wish |

I would rather be blocked if someone isn’t interested. I’m not going to be offended by that
If i reply to say thanks but no thanks, i have found that some profiles will send a follow up message at a later point.
If you use and remove message filters routinely (like I do) then you can find yourself in the situation where if you reply to say “thanks but no thanks” then that same profile will be able to bypass your message filter (when you set
them again) to message you again. For that very reason, I don’t see an issue with blocks.
I can see the closure rationale for a curtesy message before blocking but a simple block isn’t a bad thing in my books. |

We dont block people if we are not attracted to them after swapping face pics, we just say not for us and thank them and wish them luck.
We tend to get blocked though after sending our pics.
Their choice. |

"Controversial question...
What are peoples thoughts on blocking people after a message of you are not attracted to them physically?
Bad form or acceptable?
"
It stings a tad but is totally acceptble |

" Women see it as acceptable it cuts down on messages from men they aren't interested in and i can see a point to it to be fair gives them more time to concentrate on those they like |

As messages can dissappear, or you delete them to tudy up your mailbox, quite often you can find yourself looking at a profile you may have been messaging but can't remember what was said or why it didn't go further and so you run the risk of bothering them again.
Blocking stops you doing that |
