Quvenzhane Wallis - Beasts of the Southern Wild
Gotta be the youngest Best Actress nominee ever, surely ?
The film's a bit odd though, probably put in so the Academy can appear 'cool' while they give the Best Picture to Argo or Lincoln (both good films and both better then Beasts of the Southern Wild !) |

I gave up watching the Oscars they year they gave Best Actor to Denzil Washington, Best Actress to Halle Berry and Lifetime Award to Sidney Poitier.
It was a blatant attempt to appear PC by giving the top three individual awards to black actors. I like Denzil Washington and have yet to see him in a bad film, but the performance for which Halle Berry got her Oscar was nothing special considering the other actresses nominated with her:
Halle Berry – Monster's Ball
Judi Dench – Iris
Nicole Kidman – Moulin Rouge!
Sissy Spacek – In the Bedroom
Renée Zellweger – Bridget Jones's Diary
