Oh, I assumed we were talking about holding one upside down as a swingers sign?... Caused some commotion when I've been railed over the checkout in my local Asda once or twice |

Which pineapple thing? They are quite fascinating and have loads of interesting history.
For a start they aren't a fruit, but rather a "Collective Berry". Basically a group of berries fused together. Like a giant fruity orgy

They were also apparently used as 'stunt' fruit. Back in the day you'd hire a pineapple to sit as a centerpiece on your table to show off how fancy you were |

In the late 16th and early 17th century they were incredibly rare and were the ultimate status symbol. They were to expensive to eat and often rented by the super rich, just to be put on display at parties.... |

In the 18th century wealty people hired horticulturists to develop heated hothouses to grow them. They take 3 years to mature and fruit and would often have a dedicated servant to look after them. Sleeping next to them in the winter, so that they could be kept at the correct temperature and tended 24/7. |

In New England in the 18th and 19th centuries sailors would bring them home from trips to South America. And they would display them in the window of the cottage to show that they were back from the sea. It became a kind of cultural symbol. Many houses there are still adorned with Pineapple Plaques next to the door. Upside down meant the hubby was away at sea, and right way up meant he had come home.
That could be the origin of the 'swingers' upside down Pineapple.
If the hubby was at sea, then one might 'visit' the wife to 'entertain' her |

"Sorry... My hobby is collecting useless facts "
I find stuff like this extremely interesting. I'm also curious to seek if I can apply to be a 'pineapple watcher' still?... I suspect sadly not |

Do enlighten us... Is it an Exotic fruit or Something a Thai stripper does to entertain punters? "

Oh I think I'll avoid any pingwing fab or otherwise.
Not sure if they are good or even enjoyable. Could be sour for all I know. Google did not tell me that much.
Just a few weird looking pics |

According to Google they are sweet and related to the pineapple.
I love trying new tropical fruits.I used to scour the markets all over East and West Africa looking for local flavours. Custard Apples, Delicious Monsters, lady's fingers, Durian, Bayobab, Marulla Donkey berries. Bananadillas, Tamarind, Loquats, Jackfruits. And loads I don't even have names for..
Only exiting new fruit I've tried recently was a Caviar Lime. Sour but Yummy |

True fruit needs more representation. The only fruits I see in fab pics are Cucumbers, and although I find the pictures to be of arousing interest, I'm not entirely convinced of the artistic merit of some of the poses.... And I'm not sure that the relationship between the model and the fruit is entirely consensual either... Do fruit lives even matter? |

In South Africa when alcohol sales were banned during Covid, everyone started to brew homemade Pineapple beer. Sadly this delicious homebrew ended up killing loads of people and became mini tragedy all on its own. |

"In Swaziland you can buy freshly peeled pineapple on a stick dipped in curry powder from vendors along the roadsides....
Why? "
I knowow it sounds like an ungodly act against humanity, but it's surpringly tasty and refreshing! |

Pineapple contains a mixture of proteolytic enzymes known as bromelain. When you eat pineapple the enzymes literally start to digest the cells of your tongue. So there you have it- pineapples eat you, which makes them a very naughty fruit indeed. |
