What do you find yourself making more of? Do you have more female or male friends?

And also, is it healthy just having contributing opinions of just one sex?

Not real ones. I have men online I chat to; but only a couple are not trying to get my knickers off.

I have more women than men friends. I don't think it's a good idea to just hear the opinions of people who agree with you regardless of gender

I have both. But it is easier to be friend with a woman on here than a man.

Due to heteronormativity probably

Have zero female friends on here. I don't join sex / swinging sites to make platonic friends.

It kind of defeats the point in my opinion.

I've a good mix of male and female friends.

Echo chambers or only getting opinions from one side is never healthy. I don't need to agree with my friends on anything.

Usually men. Growing up in a fairly strict household, I'd always be too scared of being friendly with girls in case it was seen as flirting so I just never did. I've gotten better at it as I've gotten older, but still find it easier to start conversations and make friends with guys.

So for my birthday one year...one of my best friends...took me out into Newcastle..SHE paid for dinner cocktails etc..SHE took me to a lap dancing club...SHE paid for our dances...

So that would really be an elaborate ruse

Real friendship in my experience

isn't as exploitative as you think...and gender has nothing to do with it

Do you think it might also be due to the competition between males for the attention or the women.

Like many other forum women I’ve made some marvellous friends on here - mostly female but one or two males too.

However - whilst I know males who’ve made great female friends on here - I know of none who’ve made a network of good male friends - which is a shame.

In the real world I still have mostly female friends interspersed with a few male ones. As others have said - it can be good to get a balance of views and opinions.

I thought the same tbh.

But I'm in too good a mood to react today. Fuck it.

To answer the original question I'd say I have more female friends these days, largely due to what I do for work and the environments I find myself in both for work (where I make a lot of friends) and when I'm not working.

It used to be the opposite, largely for similar reasons but as I was in a different profession then I came more into contact with men.

On here? Probably 50/50. I don't decide to be friends with people just because I want to fuck them or not.

So pleased to see the mood hoover is back to delight us all with his ‘insight’.

But, to answer the OP’s question, I probably have a fairly even split of both genders. And I say that acknowledging I don’t (yet) have any friends who don’t identify as neither male or female.

My oldest friends are mostly men and are from school/college. That’s probably because, at that age, I was painfully shy and couldn’t talk to women.

These days I make friends with people based on whether they are nice, friendly, funny, interesting and add value to my life. I was out last night with a female friend from work. We had dinner, lots of laughs chatting, split the bill and went our separate ways with no expectations or agenda.

Gender has absolutely no bearing for me. That being said, it’s not unheard of for a fling or relationship to develop into something more. But that is an organic process, not by design.

On fab I have more female friends (whether single or in a couple) but I interact with both in the lounge. I think the lack of ‘official’ male friends comes down purely to messaging filters - I’ve blocked all guys (you know, because they’re all raging perverts). But there are some legends on here I love to chat with.

Question within a question -

Do we talk different to our same sex friends than we do to the opposite sex?

As a male I always thought I could have a deeper more softer conversations that I need, rather than getting a matter of fact exchange with males.

Because we’re easier to talk to

"Question within a question -

Do we talk different to our same sex friends than we do to the opposite sex?

As a male I always thought I could have a deeper more softer conversations that I need, rather than getting a matter of fact exchange with males. "

Erm. I'm not sure if it's gender based - some of my conversations with my female friends are definitely not softer. One I almost cried at with the harsh but fairness of it.

I think I might have more male friends. Yes, I know I do. It's not because of some daft "oh women never understand me, I'm not like other women" stupid, stupid trope. It's more a case of who I naturally talk to and develop friendships with more easily.

I think it always depends if you just want someone to listen, advice or a solution. I tend to talk the same to both though.

In school i had equal male and female pals. My first job it was all female environment and we were friendly but bitchy too, after that I had more male buddies that just treated me as one of the lads. Now it's just me. When the shit gets real you know who your friends are, I found out I invested more into them than they did.

So no friends lol

Almost all my friends on here and in real life are women. The ones that are men are generally of the type of calm, reasoning and compassionate nature that I tend to think of them as honourary women.

I definitely have more male friends. I think they want to shag me about as much as I do my female ones (some I do, some I don’t)…

I like advice from a broad spectrum based on experience & perspective. There is an argument that, that could be gender dependent I suppose. I don’t really give a fig though. Friendships have different reasons & needs, whether to do with gender or not. I don’t think it needs complicating.

Both but slightly more are women than men. Why ? Most guys are quite boring and just wanna sit in a pub drinking pints, gym or plat video games. Girls like shopping, lunch , hanging out , cooking etc

I have more male friends. I get on better with males as they seem to have a darker sense of humour than women.

I think I probably have an equal balance of birds n blokes as friends. Just hearing the opinions etc of one gender is no good for anyone

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

I've more male friends than female, and more of those male friends are married or in a relationship than not. So their partners either don't feel threatened by me, or they just trust their menfolk, or they trust me, or a combination.

And I talk to my friends pretty much the same regardless of their sex. Which the guys are delighted by during discussions of gynae stuff.

Males friends on a sex site when I'm a straight guy ... Why ?? This isn't Facebook. I have zero desire to chat to men on here. It might happen occasionally if the male half of a couple answers my messages for example but I'm here for the ladies as I'm straight and not one of these new age 'metrosexuals'. I have loads of friends of both sexes outside of fab as anybody else would have.

I met my best male friend through fab and we are both straight.

I've never had a close male friend before. Plenty of colleagues but not someone I could confide in.

We met through a fab walking group and immediately hit it off with so many things in common and have been friends for 5 years now.

Friendship on fab isn't all about sex.

I have a number of female friends from that same walking group who are no longer on the site for various reasons and we keep in regular touch but have never had sex.
