Yeah, kind of embarrassing to be honest.

Not sure there was a best time for either.
But one instant staying in a hotel work related had to share rooms, so twin room (single beds) came back to to the room and there was work colleague, was on the phone to someone having a good play. A few years ago we rented an apartment above a restaurant in Ibiza, it had a rooftop solarium all to itself, for our use only.

I’ve caught a complete stranger once.
Was staying away in a hotel with work, a large group function, about 20 of us were staying and as all arrived at once the receptionist was rushing to issue room keys to all of us. They issued me a key for a from that was already occupied, walked in and this poor lady was naked in the bed with a couple of toys. She was obviously terrified and then furious.
