For me they're themes from shows that bring back great memories ev4n if the tunes themselves were a bit rubbish. The A-team, Airwolf, Tales of the Unexpected, Juilet Bravo and Dallas. I could probably sit here and list dozens but these bring back memories of Saturday mornings and being allowed to stay up a little later.

It is. I also love singing along with Dad's Army and the Last of the Summer Wine theme reminds me of Sundays as a kid and having crumpets for tea.

Not a song, but the opening to Porridge....

You are an habitual criminal, who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard, and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner. Heard an interview with Ronnie Barker , he said , looking back he wished he hadn’t voiced it himself.

The original theme tune for RTE's Late Late Show, hosted by Gay Byrne, beginning in 1962, is a pop tune that is occasionally played by Tony Blackburn on his Saturday morning Sounds of the Sixties radio prog on BBC Radio 2.

I think it is called:

To whom it concerns!

A modified version is currently used. Ryan Tubridy is the current host. Pat Kenny followed Gay Byrne, who was the victim of a massive scam by his accountant, Russell Murphy.

"Steptoe n Son "

The interesting fact about Galton and Simpson's hit, Steptoe and Son, is that it almost didn't happen, because the father, played by Wilfrid Brambell was caught in a public toilet, importuning, and the BBC did a test run with the public, who ignored his recent conviction, that was widely publicised.

Wilfrid was actually a meticulously dressed gent in real life; nothing like the character he played.

I love the True Blood theme, and always found that the themes for The West Wing and ER always got the adrenalin going if something major happened in the teaser before the opening credits

*spoiler alert for anyone currently watching The West Wing- the assassination attempt or Donna and the roadside bomb as good examples*

The most effective though for setting the mood is the theme to Twin Peaks. Equal parts strange, beautiful and melancholic. Always really set the tone for how weird and dark it was. The first time I heard it it made me really uncomfortable. And that is a lot of what that show is.

Not so much a theme tune but the song "Bella Ciao" from the Netflix series Money Heist is brilliant I made it my ringtone

"The scifi series UFO had a good theme and also great opening credits! The closing theme was very spooky."

I absolutely love the opening and ending credits for this show. The spookiness of those closing credits were amazing.

Kids TV had some absolute bangers back from when I was a kid to my teens. Thundercats, Mask, Transformers, Danger mouse, He-Man, Ducktales, Animaniacs, Gummi Bears, Spiderman, X-men and likely hundreds more I can't think of off top of my head.

TV shows I loved theme for Baywatch and Boon

Yes, just a pity it got cancelled, as the last episode ("Blake") wasn't meant to the last one.

They deliberately didn't show bl ood special FX on any of the characters (apart from Blake, as Gareth Thomas wanted his character to be k illed off) just in case they were renewed.

End of an intelligent and ground-breaking series

"Fave .. Mr Ben"

It was written pretty much on the spur of the moment by a Scottish saxoponist called Duncan Lamont. There's a fascinating documentary about him on BBC R4 - including the when time he was Frank Sinatra's sax player.
