I suspect a lot of the other women will give the evil eye, and you’ll hear at least one ‘Mummy, why has that lady got her bum cheeks out?’ but if you don’t care about that, go for it! |

It's fine in our view. If you go on the regular (aka non nudist) beach, children will see boobs out etc. So long as the actual lady parts are properly covered, it's fine. We did see an example on our last hol of an ill fitting thong bikini - not a good look |

Depends really. Saw plenty of topless ladies around the pools and on the beaches during family holidays when I was a wee schoolboy, many of whom caught my keen attention, but they were never frowned upon and it was at their own discretion. I suspect many were German however. As for butt cheeks, as long as you’re not shoving your arse in peoples faces, and just laying on the lounger, God gave us our butts to do as we please, so go for it! |

It's always going to be a tricky one.
There really is no right or wrong, Okat or not okay. It's just individual view.
First thing you need to think of though is, would you care what your kids saw? Even us without kids can have an idea of what we feel we would mind what our own crotch gremlins saw if we had any.
I personally wouldn't care, high chance they will have seen it on TV at some point. Can't keep them away from the world forever. It won't scar them for life.
There will always be at least 1 person that won't like it. That can't be avoid in a situation like this. So be prepared for that regardless.
Is there a resort/hotel policy about it, some actually do limit exposure.
Bottom line (pun!) if you feel you want/have to do it there, then do it. |

"It's totally fine, who cares what others think
I guess the OP does though, or they wouldn’t have asked "
I'd understand if the question was boobs out or not, but I don't see why a thong is a problem |

I would be probably be happy to see it myself but it would be uncomfortable for other guests.
Especially jealous wives, gfs etc.

I answered orginally above in the general sense as opposed to my own personal preference.
(I like naturist/nudist choices)
But I see it as a matter of consent.
If I went to a topless beach I'd be aware and consenting to see boobs.
If I went to a nudist beach I'd be consenting to seeing all.
If I go to a family beach there is no expectation of consent.
You may see a bare ass as nothing much but not everyone there will be happy to see ass cheeks or boobs that aren't their own or their partner's.
It's respecting these social considerations that makes us kind and thoughtful humans sharing public spaces.
Just be thoughtful and considerate and everyone has a great time. |

Its really hard to predict until you have your audience, some really won't care, some will have hatred eyes
I was once asked to pull my skirt lower in tescos, by an older lady as she thought my skirt was too short, I did point out I had shorts on underneath it, whilst I refused her request |

It’s not acceptable at our local swimming pool. There are signs. That make it clear what type of swimwear are acceptable and which are not.
Some will be offended, some won’t. Do you want to offend people?

Obviously all women should cover themselves from head to toe with respect of their husband, whom holds sole right to the use of their body.
Or not. Maybe just a bit, depending on who you are deciding just how... |

It's a family resort. Have consideration for families and show respect.
If you want an all over tan find a nudist beach or go to the sunbeds.
It's a family resort...... |

Yes I think it is. The Europeans probably won't bat an eye lid. It won't be the first time if seen a man or woman just take their trunks or bikini bottoms off and change them in full view after coming out of the sea. |

If it's not you, someone else will probably be tanning the cheeks, take a bikini with you and gauge the situation when you are there? I think it's great you are thinking of others but I assume the chosen bikini will be covering the important parts of your body?
Take it with you and see when you are there x |

Someone, somewhere will be offended by the colour, cut of the neck, logo, fact it's too skimpy or too cover-up. Our local pools have no such swimwear policy. You just have to wear some sort of swimwear.
I've read about people being offended by women wearing the bathing suits that cover the arms/legs and incorporate a head covering. The rationale apparently being it's just not cricket to cover up entirely.
One simply cannot win. |

I would say ok if mainland Europe or the Canaries, that sort of destination but if it’s somewhere with a generally more conservative attitude to things then might have to rethink.
The fact that you are conscious enough to ask the question tells me you will probably be able to gauge the mood and make an appropriate choice OP.
Hope you have a good holiday. |

Having seen what Instagram influencers wear on their jollies in Dubai, around the pool, it depends entirely on the resort and it's clientele also.
My swimsuits are pretty low cut and show a lot of cleavage. Would I be okay wearing those in Dubai? Should I wear a wetsuit with full arm/leg covering?
I have no idea! (Also, I have no intention of going to Dubai, just ruminating). |

Nothing wrong with the way you look in your profile pics with the thong on, I'd just check with the hotel 1st the rules and don't be worried if other people don't like it, they don't have to look |

Mind you, when you see some of the thong type budgie smugglers some of the men will be wearing….. |

Yeah, I don't see why not. I personally don't think it's an issue for women to be topless in a "family resort" either - no, not so I can perve (well, not just that), but I don't know why we make such a big deal about it.
(But agree all about local customs above too!) |

yeah its fine , its not like your anus is hanging out of them for all to see in a wicked weasel style bikini string bottom ..
some people are just weird in over sexualising everything if abit of cheek/cleavage is visible
If its a problem then someone at the resort that works there would tell you
English people are quite backwards compared to many europeans on this front . |

I’d say it’s fine, but go with what makes you feel comfortable. You’ll get some stares and attention. If that’s ok then stick with it. If it makes you uncomfortable then perhaps time to change. But you’ll never know until you do it.
Their cheeks, bikini briefs ride up and are ‘positioned’ for tanning purposes. It wasn’t long ago there would have been shock at seeing your knees. So embrace what you feel comfortable embracing.

Maybe message the hotel and ask if there is a dress code for the pool area, have been on many a family holiday where ladies were topless. It wouldn't bother me if you wore a thong type bikini but I think you should take both types and judge the situation when you get there.
Ultimately you will not please everyone whichever way you jump. |

I say tan that bum, you may be responsible for a few domestics when people are caught by partners checking those cheeks but live a little |

It's simple enough to book into an adults only hotel, these days almost all resorts have these, it's an easy way to avoid upsetting those who may not want their kids to see what you've had for breakfast when you are hanging out of your thong. |

Completely depends on where in the world you're visiting.
Plenty of European countries don't have the same hangups regarding nudity that the British have. It's common to see topless/nude/thongs on beaches and the only people in sock and clutching pearls are the brits.
I'd take choices of swimwear and if you're not comfortable have a look on the first day to see what others are wearing?! |

How about wearing a sarong style wrap walking along the beach and the thong bikini while sunbathing.
If you're in the UK it might be a bit more of an issue than Ibiza. I wouldn't try it in any of the more conservative countries.
I doubt many people would even bat an eyelid |

Totally acceptable in my opinion.
Why is it only us brits that care! Europeans are so much more open minded and accepting.
You will see boobs and women wearing things and prob some teens too!
I don’t consent to seeing beached whales in bikinis but I see them… and that’s just the men lol |

This reminds me of the time I took my 4 young daughters to a island on a sea taxi in Portugal. There was a topless woman on the beach. It was quiet and I really thought I'd accidentally taken them to a naughty beach. She had a dog and it ran over to play with us, followed by the topless woman running to try catch it. Was so funny. My girls still go on about it now. Was years ago
Anyway I'm not fussed by thong bikinis at a family resort

Wear what you are comfortable with. If others are jealous or staring, tough luck on them.
A lot of people have commented about there being kids there, but the kids won’t care at all. You won’t offend the kids, but you might offend some of the parents.
It’s about context. It wouldn’t be right in Tesco, but it’s fine at a holiday pool/beach.

I think it's fine. Do what you are comfortable with provided no law is broken.
There is no difference between a thong and a normal bikini.
Men would never be criticised for wearing budgie smugglers rather than shorts. |

The French have rules that you have to wear budgie smugglers in the pool, no shorts.
