Will there be a match of the day tonight?

Jump to: Newest in thread

From the land of haribos.

It seems that shearer and ian wright is boycotting match of the day in solidarity with gary lineker, it comes after garys tweet that the BBC doesnt like.

I support gary and I agree that he havent done anything wrong and have the right to voice his political views, after all he is a free lancer so I gather that he have more freedom to do that then.

What do you think of it?

Will they just show the matches without commentary from the studio, or will there be new commentators?

They can get a basic highlights package, including commentary, from the World Feed

They can just show the footage with the national anthem playing on loop. Gary's critics will love it.

Gary paid 1.3 million a year ...when he signed his contractual agreement surely in there is a section of impartiality if in that front of house role

He should have his freedom of speech absolutely but just aware a huge influencer from his status

Oxfordshire.

The funny thing is I have stopped watching the news because of it’s government bashing. It’s the same on BBC tv and radio.

Is that impartial or are they all hypocrites.

I might not agree with Gary but it’s his opinions.

Gouldn't give a monkeys.

The reason why Lineker has been suspended is because he's broken BBC rules on impartiality which extend to social media, and most likely his defiant attitude after they'd apparently 'had a word'

I find it strange though that it seems to be the same people slating the BBC for this decision that were calling for Jeremy Clarkson to be given the boot by ITV and Amazon when HE posted his personal opinion on Social media.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

Why don't they just show a repeat?

That's what the BBC normally do.....

Problem solved.

Show the Frida Kahlo documentary that was on BBC2 Last night that I only caught the end of. Please.... That would save me having to watch it on Iplayer!

I thought this. Which is why I couldn’t be bothered getting involved. It only works one way. Although I totally agree Jeremy Clarkson was bang out of order with his comments.

It'll be better, much like when you've been framed got rid of the presenter.

The 3 stooges only give their opinions so subjective but better to watch & have your own opinion.

Hopefully the BBC will save at least £2.5 million now, that's 1600 licence fees going elsewhere.

Whilst half a billion pounds of taxpayers money vanishes to France/EU, this story conveniently dominates the headlines

I wonder why he, and the people supporting him, didn't shout about their outrage at the human rights digressions in Qatar during the world cup?

"I wonder why he, and the people supporting him, didn't shout about their outrage at the human rights digressions in Qatar during the world cup? "

He did but in that case the government and BBC agreed with him.

"I'm watching it now and enjoying not having any presenters or commentators..."

It basically feels like a YouTube compilation… it’s very surreal

It’s a very weird version of fifa 23 without the commentary option on
