Apparently women have more close friends than men, and younger people have more than older ones.
Let's find out.
Tell us:
Number of close friends:
Your gender:
Your age: |

"I have 2 close friends
We’ve been friends since we were really young and we still speak to each other every day "
I barely speak to myself every day! |

Jane and I had One mutual best friend Robbie, he was our best man when we married 36 years ago, his beautiful wife Ann died nine years ago but Robbie passed last week after a brave fight against skin cancer.
We will travel up to South London next Friday to attend the funeral of our diamond of a mate, and I'm blessed beyond belief at being invited to do the eulogy. |

My condolences. Sounds like a wonderful friendship. |

Thanks, yes it was a friendship that spanned over 50 years after we first met at primary school, Robbie was a roadie for the band Squeeze for years.

None. I lost my closest childhood friend because of my husband's behaviour towards her partner.
My one other person I could call a friend drifted away from me as my health declined.
I have a big family to make up for it and my childhood friend moved back to my street so we have a chat now and then. |

Close friends who I speak with daily and who we tell each other everything? 2
Friends who I'm close to and would always be there for each other but life means we don't see each other as often? probably 3
And I'm also very lucky to have other friends too. People whom you keep in touch with fairly often and see each other as regularly. 4.
Other friends in the circle about 8.
I realise I'm truly blessed

Close friends that I speak to daily, four
Additional good friends that I can talk to about anything but not in daily contact with, another four
People I meet up with regularly for chats and gossip and giggles, four more
Plus several male friends through fb dating and fab and fl etc
Soon to be ex husband was my best friend throughout most of our marriage and sadly recently ended a friendship that had lots of potential to be a relationship bur then I remembered I don’t want a relationship and he doesn’t want to be just friends even with benefits

I am fascinated too for a few reasons. One reason is that I too questioned if it is the nature of the site e.g. people chatting here because of the lack of a friend to contact and another reason is I am pleasantly surprised by people's openess and honesty.
We are FORCED societally/culturally into monogamous 2 adult relationships and the rest of life changes and drifts.
People need social sites it appears. I wonder how many women shag for the company at times. |

1 close friend who I have known since first school. Definately "brother from another mother". One of my brothers I am close to. We like a mirror image of each other in thoughts, ideas, personality. I am still in contact remotely with friends from my first school. |

If we're defining close friends as someone you contact every day, then the answer is none. I have one best friend from secondary school, she dropped everything to come and help us move house but we can go months without getting in touch. But when we do, it's like we've never stopped chatting. Her parents helped when I was in hospital etc so I'd define her as a close friend, despite the fact we're not always in regular contact.
My best friend in the whole world though, and who I do contact pretty much every day, is Mr KC. Although, if we're apart, we don't always contact each other every single day. We're secure enough not to need to be constantly in touch if one of us is elsewhere, e.g. on a work trip or something.
The only person who knows absolutely everything about me, in the whole wide world, is him. |

I am a widower .
Close friends . I would say one. Although can go no contact for a few weeks. Did message last night ??Yes a female.
Friends I would say 3 . My neighbours who I have lived next door with for forty years. Plus a friend of my late wife who a least once a week phones me to see if ok.
Apart from that I do get messages sometimes from nieces, nephews and people who know worked with. That is normally Christmas/ New Year

Best friend, wife, soulmate : 1
Very good friends in the inner circle : 1 couple and 2 singles
Outer circle : 5-6
(Circles do not denote "playmates" or FWB's by the way. Though there is a couple in the Outer who were FWB's for a while (6-7 years ago perhaps). The others are non-scene folks (but aware of our activities. We're open with all our friends)

I'm male 37 next week, I have 2 friends that I am close with who are sadly on opposing sides of an issue, one of our other friends (former in my case) trying to avoid triggering words, did stuff to one of my friends wife while she was sleeping, he was also best man at his wedding and we've all known each other around 25 years.
Naturally one friend was furious he did this to his wife, I'm sided with him both because as we've got older I've noticed the man in question turned into a bit of a creep, didn't expect him to go this far but I don't think I'm surprised.
The other friend thinks that victim is making it up so it's split them apart sadly.
But outside all those issues my closest friend is my wife |

I have a million and 1 acquaintances. But I don’t do friends other people just complicate things and get offended when I refuse to attend their shindigs. So it’s just an easier life for everyone if they just know me.

I have no close friends male or female. I have never really had the opportunity to make friends. I would actually like to have a friend who I could go out with to the pub or for a meal etc, male or female. |
