"I had a ECG done a few weeks ago and docs have called saying I need another ECG as there not sure if its there machine or my heart! Great news lol"
ECG traces are notoriously unreliable, usually a "mean average" trace is used. To get the best results, make sure you have a good shower before you go, so your skin is as clean as possible. Have something to eat - stomach rumbling can deflect the trace, and as has been said, try not to fidget. |

The 24/48 hour and even the 7 day recordings don't often show anything unusual. They rely on an event of some sort whilst hooked up and that doesn't always happen.
A solution more likely to produce evidence of what's actually happening is to implant a monitor, not unlike a USB drive, in the chest wall. It can be downloaded through the skin and produces a report of any events over a lengthy period of time.
That gives a much better indication of what a cardio problem is likely to be. |

Looking after yourself will help but if you have a genetic propensity you may still end up with a heart condition. |

High blood pressure.
Some thin people are fat on the inside. Fat deposits around your organs is worse than it sitting on your bottom or thighs.
The chances are that you have an ordinary irregular heartbeat. Some are harmless and some aren't, which is why they check. I have one and at times it is odd feeling your heart miss beats or suddenly speeding up and then stopping but there isn't anything really wrong with my heart.
Don't worry and relax during the tests. |

Sounds like tachycardia. The speeding up can be controlled by drugs (if need be) but the stopping can be a problem.
It's one thing if your heart stops for a few seconds causing a blackout (syncope) whilst you're sitting on the sofa. It's different if you're driving down a motorway. |

You'll have to if its that or you die. My dad takes blood pressure tablets. He's not overweight, doesn't drink or smoke and doesn't eat much bad food, my mum is badly overweight, eats terrible food, doesn't exercise and is fine blood pressure wise. It's weird. I got dizzy spells with high bp. It's a stroke warning. Hypertension and heart disease run in the family as does high cholesterol and angina. As long as I have a healthy lifestyle and take my mess I'm ok. |

I have done thousands of ECG's as part of my job. The most dangerous indicators are extremely obvious. Minor changes that require a second ECG are often ruled out, they are caused by minor things like lead placement, which would give errant readings, or like someone said above movement during the ECG.
Try not to worry as if it was dangerous they would have recalled you immediately, or sent an ambulance to collect you.

They couldn't have thought it was immediately dangerous as they won't let you leave in those circumstances. 48 hours is good as they are dealing with you seriously. Whitechapel also has all new, shiny stuff and is state of the art now.

Each persons ECG is different, what is normal for one person is abnormal for another. That ECG may just be normal for you, it also maybe that the person looking at it is relatively inexperienced. If you want to PM me with your symptoms (if any) maybe I can put your mind at rest, as docs are not always the best at that. |
