Good eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevening campers. You greet me on the eve of a little trip to the Welsh borders. Exciting times - hospital appointment AND a coffee, not in Shrewsbury 
Today I had cornflakes for breakfast. I did my first gym session since January this afternoon and then waited for Mr KC to finish work and headed home together. I'm ready to go back to work on Monday, I think. |

I will be taking coffee with the very same wizard of the Bury of Shrew, yes
I received a new metal footplate thingy just before we moved house, actually. I'm still using the (heavier) replacement one, mainly because we need to locate all the little tools for discombobulating the damned thing. Also need to test drive my big fat off road tyres, seeing as we now live more or less in the countryside |

Today I had cornflakes for breakfast. I did my first gym session since January this afternoon and then waited for Mr KC to finish work and headed home together. I'm ready to go back to work on Monday, I think.

I hope the hospital appointment goes well. By the way - what became of the metal bar that was missing/broken from your new wheelchair? Did you ever get that resolved?
I will be taking coffee with the very same wizard of the Bury of Shrew, yes
I received a new metal footplate thingy just before we moved house, actually. I'm still using the (heavier) replacement one, mainly because we need to locate all the little tools for discombobulating the damned thing. Also need to test drive my big fat off road tyres, seeing as we now live more or less in the countryside

Top tip: get Mr KC (as if he hasn't got enough to do) to paint Gø—Faster Str|pes on your wheelchair. I don't know how it happens or where the mågïc lies, but it actually works!....going downhill...

This is a genuine question so i hope you don't get offended, do you have cover for when it rains? Or do you wrap up with a coat and hood xx xx |

I have a special 3-in-1 coat, designed for wheelchair users. It has extra shoulder room, reinforced sleeves on the inside with velcro to pull the sleeves tight so they don't catch in the wheels. The hood fit's tightly to allow peripheral vision. There's a waterproof outer jacket and inner thermal jacket, which can be worn separately or joined together into a super warm and waterproof coat. From the same trendy (expensive) Dutch brand, I have a knee cover made from the same waterproof fabric as the coat. It also covers the seat cushion. However, waterproof gloves with grip don't seem to existing so I get very cold, wet hands and have feck all grip in wet weather. It makes pushing uphill or pinging up kerbs quite difficult.
Most wheelchair clothing on the UK market is cheap and nasty quality (but expensive) and designed for Grannies or people who rely on carers. The Dutch are much more progressive and make trendy but practical stuff (also expensive - everything disability related is!) |

When I was a community carer, I used to get so frustrated and sad that the right equipment wasn't in the persons home and especially sad that they didn't have correct covering for outings i made my own for them. Two umbrellas i cut to make a large canopy, with a grip on top i could hold steady. But they thought they were doing all the work lol

I'm a self propeller, so whatever I wear has to work for me being out and about independently. Anything umbrella related is a ticket for taking off like a hot air balloon 
The unfortunate fact is that any decent gear designed for wheelchair users is insanely expensive. My coat cost £300 and the knee cover £80. I got them as birthday/Christmas gifts. Many people can't even contemplate affording things like that. And the most basic/cheap kit is next to useless |
