Inspired by recent events:
Why do people do it, what are they getting out of it? You get into a conversation, it's all going well, you express what you both want from it. Sometimes they even go so far as to meet up and see for themselves.
And then *poof*, never to be heard from again! Like what are they playing at?
You already quoted me for labour and materials, and confirmed a date. Just turn up when you said and do the work!

I've had this happen a few times in the last year.
Contractors advertising on a business page on FB and I get in touch, they quote for a job and confirm a date and never turn up.
I've gone back to the business page and commented on a post about customers messing the tradies about to say it works both ways and got called out by some random business owner telling me I was a lazy fucker for contacting people through social media and I should get off my arse and be more proactive.
The irony wasn't lost on me.
Another quoted £600 for a job last Feb and then reappeared in September to say he was ready to do it now but it would be £1600 due to rising costs.
The material costs had actually gone from £200 in Feb to £250 in September so he was told to do one. |

Bloody lazy contractors using social media... what happened to the days of knocking on every door to see if people needed any work doing?
Also I didn't realise inflation was that bad!

Check-A-Trade helped us in the end. You post a description of the work you want doing and it gets sent to every relevant trade near you to pick up... kinda like a copy/ paste on Fab Had a few let downs but eventually the scattergun approach worked... much like Fab
Hope you get it sorted

I've been off work for the past couple of weeks so trades could come any time but didn't. I'm back at work from Monday next week, so I bet they'll all be free then |

Problem is none of them actually wants to run and grow a business , they might be ok if you catch them at the right time , but most can’t think past the next well, one man bands , universal credit so don’t want too much legit non cash work, when demand comes they crumple. |

I'm in much less pain, thank you. What remains is neuropathic pain that'll take yonks to go away, if it ever will, so I just have to put up with that. |
