Posher places try too hard to reinvent the wheel and make things taste special with their own unique twist to it. Street food made with a proper family recipe has the the soul of what the food is meant to be. In my opinion anyway |

I went to a restaurant awhile back and it cost me and my mate around 80 quid for a meal and couple of pints. Last night we walked into a rundown looking place to say the least and the meal was incredible! and almost less than half the price. |

"I used to like watching the kebab being sliced on the skewer from the greasy burger place near me
I think skewer is spelt wrong lol?"
I'm not sure how it's spelt either. There is something nice about watching it getting sliced.
I've always been tempted to jump over the counter and do the deed myself. |

"I find a curry tastes better in a rough looking curry house, compared to a posh place.
Anyone else feel the same ? Or is it just me... " It's the same here the most amazing food comes from hole in the wall places not 5 star restaurants. It is strange. |

"In terms of value it is hard to beat a full breakfast at a builders' cafe.
However, they are getting harder and harder to find "
Used to be one and the end of my road many years ago. You wiped your feet when you came out, but the food was great.

I think because you go into them with low expectations so you're always pleasantly surprised whereas when you go to more reputable places you expect quality and it doesn't always live up to your expectations |

I love a Desi , Pakistani basic restaurants , samosa with chilli and raita, grilled spiced chicken , Nan breads, salad, rice byriani,, lassi to finish - around £7 in the Uk , about £4 in old Dubai |

Gosh, did you ever try a curry in Chungking Mansions in Hong Kong? Unbelievable, but you needed to navigate the piss strewn stairwell to get to the restaurants - never use the lifts! |

Think you've hit the nail on the head there |

I dunno, I like both, had some amazing 5 star meals and then also some amazing meals in grotty places.
It’s the mid range places that I avoid like pizza express / Nando’s etc as I find them bland and overpriced. |
