Ken Bruce radio 2

It's a sad day today (for me) because it's the last day that Ken Bruce will be on radio 2.

I love his show, his humour etc.

He's moving to a commercial radio station, i will listen although i dislike commercial stations because of the adverts.

Apparently he’s taking popmaster with him to his new station, he was the only reason I stayed with radio 2 but now it will be virgin for Chris evans then greatest hits where Ken is going then I’ll decide for a afternoon show

Radio 2 gets permanently turned off my radio at 12.01 today.

It's all about "celebrity" now, and they'll finally turn it into Radio 1 Lite today.

It's been a good ride but the DAB age is here now.

Is that what those "announcements" have been lately that I've never really bothered to listen to?

I don't listen everyday but have for ages. That's the first time I've heard anyone get 3 in 10.

Was more like 3 in 3

It's a real shame Ken is leaving and even more so being pushed early.

Best of luck to Vernan Kay who takes over

Uh? How is this Radio 2 trying to please the 'woke brigade'? Radio 2 were going to offer him another three year contract, with the likelihood of a gradual transition to weekends, leaving the morning show free for Scott Mills or whoever. Ken was offered the GHR gig, took it and resigned from Radio 2. It was his business decision. I'm guessing GHR are paying him a vast amount of money, and good on him. He's worth it.

I’ve already started listening to Greatest hits radio at work, and it’s actually pretty good, yes the commercials can get a bit annoying. But they’ve got a good line up of presenters, and play a good selection of music.

So I’ll certainly be tuning in for Popmaster, when Ken’s new shoe starts next month

If they didn't have presenters with a following, I might consider listening to Radio 2 and similar stations.

All I want is to hear the music and be told what it was immediately after it was played (not what is coming up, because I might have tuned in half way through and certainly not three tracks later in random order, or never because it is then time for the news).

I don't care how golden their voice is. I tune in for music, not to hang on to the presenter's every word.

BBC again doing what they do best, telling us all what they think we want to watch n listen to instead of what we really want.

They've slowly but surely got rid of the DJs who have actually got a personality and are entertaining to listen to...

Scott Mills replacing Steve Wright...jeez..nice enough guy but omg...he thinks all his listeners are all uni students ...so so boring.Zzzzzzz.

And notice how Steve Wright had a 3 hour afternoon show, they've only trusted Scott with 2 hours..3 hours of Scott would have us all switching off Radio 2 for ever.

Steve Wright could have been replaced by OJ Borg..he's parked up doing the midnight to 3am slot...and he has oodles of personality..and makes the show fun.

Gonna say Vernon Kay isn't a bad replacement for Ken...witty, energetic

But Ken will be sadly missed... his morning show was just the best.

I'll try and listen to Ken but I cannot stand listening to commercial radio with the adverts popping up every 10 mins...so annoying..

You just crack on BBC with your woke box ticking, but just watch the Radio 2 listening figures plummet through the floor.

Btw...if ya gonna get rid of some DJs can we replace Zoe Ball...she is meant to lift us all up in the morning but all she bangs on about is depression, anxiety and mental health....I'm not knocking those topics but please Zoe...save it all for another show.

Give Vernon kay the breakfast show, Gary Davies the mid morning show and OJ Borg the afternoon show.

Keep Sara Cox too...very funny on drivetime.

Good luck BBC...ya gonna need a lot of it ...spending our money very unwisely

I used to detest Sara Cox as I really didn't want to know about her day to day life, it was all she used to bang on about.

Not any more though, her afternoon/evening show is brilliant and she's quite funny. Friday is the best day with listeners ringing in picking the tunes and why they want them played

BBC radio is total bilge across the board. I used to have 6music on pretty much all day (apart from the annoying Sean Keavney), with a DAB in the car, garage, house and at work....then they decided to shit on the people who saved them from being shut down in the late 00's and pretty much wiped out any sign of the old indie /alt scene apart from the occasional play- replacing it with a mix of replaying the same half dozen latest tracks on rotation and the contents of R1xtra

Can't remember the last time i had the radio on, their TV offerings are as bad- wouldn't loose sleep if they shut the whole shit show down

"It seems to me that all the character is being removed from the station, leaving blandness in its place"

Totally agree....because of the world we now live in ...anybody with a hint of personality is being replaced by total blandness... everything scripited and anybody on TV or radio that dares to step outside the tight lines of so called humour or free thinking is shown the door or put on the cancelled list.

If you are an angry person who just effs n Jeffs every 3rd word with no real talent all the TV and Radio companies are all over it...signing them up ....these companies don't realise that people are just switching off in their millions... people wang to be entertained not lectured at all the time.

All the best Ken at Greatest Hits Radio

My Radio 2 listening is now down to Sounds of the Sixties with Tony Blackburn on Saturday mornings, and Johnny Walker with Sounds of the Seventies on Sunday afternoons.

I have great memories of listening to these two guys on Pirate radio in the mid 1960s.

Bring back Radio Caroline and Radio London.

If the powers that be had any intelligence at all, they should have set up another station say

'Radio 2 Extra'...aimed at the 25-40 age group ... those listeners that have had enough of Radio 1 music and DJs but aren't quite ready for the leap onto Radio 2.

I maybe 56 but I'm not a total dinosaur who only likes 60s-80s music... there's some cracking music around these days...whom DJs like Ken and others would champion and play their music quite regularly...

The listening figures of a show like 'Radio 2 Extra' would have immediately told the BBC everything they needed to know ....and don't they realise a lot of the 15-40 age group listen to their own music on things like Spotify, Amazon prime etc....

BBC....you have no idea...
