I had a 10% pay rise this year, but given that inflation over the same year has been *more* than 11% (with grocery inflation hitting 17%+ and energy something like 80%) … even that’s still equivalent to a pay cut.

I'm super lucky. My boss hasn't gone more than about 6 weeks without giving me a raise for the past year, so my wages are keeping ahead of the curve.

Have you seen Morrisons sell boxes of wonky & past best before dated fruit/veg very cheaply. Also here we have a discount supermarket thingy where local supermarkets donate food (fresh included) that's either surplus, or wonky or past best before. It's also very cheap.
