Ever brought you to tears? I like putting music videos on the telly for my 8 month old to listen to and watch. There's a song they like to put on called whisky lullaby. Makes me blub every time |

Symphony of Sorrowful Songs by Henryk Golecki. It is a very emotive piece.
City of Brotherly Love by Neil Young. It’s the featured song at the end of the film Philadelphia and captures the mood so well. I turn into a massive crybaby every time! |

Mayday Parade - Terrible Things
The singer is telling his son a story about how he fell in love with his mother, but then found out she was terminally ill and she passed away |

That was nearly not recorded, Bill Anderson who wrote it thought it was too controversial and too long to be recorded but Brad and Allison made it a huge success |

It's really cheesy. But Iris, Goo Goo Dolls.
It was playing on the drive home from breaking up with my first girlfriend. At the time it felt like cathartic serendipity and I still can't listen to it without feeling an odd sense of sad relief. |

I Can't Comfort You Anymore by Michael J Sheehy. A pretty gutwrenching look at grief and trying to be strong for others. https://youtu.be/abGjXPiEYto
Baby Birch by Joanna Newsom. A symbolism/metaphor-heavy examination of the feelings and emotions that go with having an abortion. https://youtu.be/8-Mj3wKU-wg
I See A Darknes by Bonnie Prince Billy. A bleak but ultimately beautiful song about depression and love. https://youtu.be/ElygSMtokAw |

Didn't think anything could be too controversial for country music |

This one.
All the way through till the 9 minute mark, it’s a story, it’s a battle with oneself, it’s the argument we all have and then, it lifts up, as he accepts that there are two sides to himself. When he stands up and breaks into a sweet, beautiful vocal, I just tear up a bit and think “that’s right mate, you can do it”
And the lines “I go by many names also, some people know me as “hope”, some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope”

"Monsters James Blunt. I can't watch the video"
It didn't get a lot of airplay, which I think is because it's just such an overwhelming song. It's so brutally from the heart.
Also 'i wasn't expecting that', it's the sad bit from Up in song form. |

So many...
You'll never walk alone - we sang that at the end of Carousel, not a dry eye in the house.
Stand by me/somewhere over the rainbow/angels/living on a prayer are all funeral songs so can make me emotional.
Outnumbered by Dermot Kennedy, makes me think of my son. And also All My friends by him... |

So moving
I have a copy of one of Scott Hutchison's tattoos on my arm and adore his music so the song hits me because it's about Scott. But obviously, it resonates with everything thst I went through last year too. It was very cathartic singing my heart out to it! |

I still find Adele’s Hometown glory such a powerful piece of music.
It’s the intro with that haunting piano that overwhelms me whenever I hear it.
Sometimes I’ll play it just to see if it still moves me, kinda like making sure I’m still alive.
Gotta be played load though. |

"High hopes - Pink Floyd.
The lyrics remind me of my youth and how magical the world used to be. How I forgot to just appreciate it at the time.
" Great song! Not mentioned as much as their other songs. |
