UK Citizenship Test
Jump to: Newest in thread
The UK Citizenship Test seems to be pretty tough, as well as having some bizarre, obscure and irrelevant questions. It makes you wonder how anyone can be expected to pass it and also if born and bred Brits with decent general knowledge could even pass it.
Just for fun, look up an online 'organisation' that does 'citizenshiptests', give the test simulator a go and share your result, either pass / fail, or how many times it took you to pass..... and no cheating!
Me - 6 times to pass. |

"I did the real thing in 2019 and seem to have been given an easy set of questions.
There is a bunch of ridiculous stuff in there too, I will say."
•
Did they ask you to whistle "Rule Britannia" and "Land of Hope and Glory"...backwards?
If not, then back to the Clipper Ship for you. |

Absolute silence in the test room thank you |

22/24 I failed on two questions related to Scotland. The test I did wasn’t easy but for example.
Where was Shakespeare born ?
Haggis found in which country ?
Battle of Britain was fought where ?
How often are PMQ’s ?
Who built the Tower of London ?
Not easy but there are a choice (most of the questions) of four answers. |

"I believe there was a website that provides 45 mock sets, and all questions came from those when my friend took the test."
There are. Born here but tried it. Failed. Was hoping to get deported to somewhere better! |

Wow... some of these are actually really irrelevant.
How many ski centres are there in Scotland?
Which of these is a famous classical music event in the UK?
.
For even many UK-born and raised citizens, both these questions have no significance! |

Someone who was going to be taking it showed one to me and I got all questions correct except two. One was a political one that I knew but had a brain-fart moment.
Some of the questions I remember thinking how strange to ask that. |

I hear the real test is a trick.
You turn up, and theres a "delay" getting into the room.
They then see
A) if you queue politely
B) talk about the weather
C) blame the wait in brexit, the Tories, the last labour govenment, wokeism (or anything that is totally irrelevant)

I did think the test was a load of old bollocks when I took it |

"My Dad's GF passed it in 2019 but remember her practising and thinking what a load of old cobblers. "
I remember being struck in the exam prep materials, that there was more material to study on the Milk Snatcher than almost any other topic. It was wildly disproportionate.
Citizenship as a Tory wank project? Never |

A better test for citizenship would be compulsory private insurance for health care and pension, then it would only attract those who wish to work. Before you all cry bigot the Poles, Romanians and Bulgarians, I work with, speak better and write English and certainly are more efficient than most of the English |

I passed the sample test first time, 19 out of 24 but some guesses involved. A load of bilge, just one example being: WTF does the geology of the islands 10,000 years ago have to do with modern-day citizenship? This country really is ruled and administered by a bunch of cretins. |

The first question on my real test was something like, what is the name of the cricket match England hold against Australia?
As an Australian cricket fan, I would have howled with laughter if I hadn't been frisked to enter the test room |

I have had this debate with colleagues, the home office and a lawyer.
No one at work has passed the online test. The lawyer isn't impressed by the dribble of it either.
I am trying to gain citizenship and luckily I don't need to complete the test - otherwise I'd fail well and truly.

Seems like they are confusing citizenship suitability with knowledge. |
