I usually find her EXTREMELY annoying. Especially when she plays ditsy on panel shows ( i tend to dislike most women that do that ) but you are right. She's showing other sides to her skills belt in this. Her response to Lucy was so human and self depreciating.

I always wondered how she was so ditsy given that her mother is the wonderful Eve Pollard. More fool me ......

I've taped it but haven't watched it yet. The adverts enticed me.

The piano ads, not the head and shoulders ads.

Ages ago we watched an episode of Faking It where they took a woman who worked in her family's newsagents and turned her into a convincing showbiz reporter. Claudia Winkleman was one of the coaching gurus and she is incredibly savvy. Her choice of language used is always intentional. She kept losing her shit with the 'faker' because she'd say 'ladies' instead of 'girls' when interviewing celebs. One of those tv moments where you genuinely got to see behind the ditsy mask.

I recently read a book Claudia W wrote which I couldn't finish. It was basically telling people to grow a fringe and wear black interspersed with handy hints about nobody cares if you burn their dinner (they do Claudia they're just being polite). I've always thought she's queen of the personality just for media. I mean she claimed she'd done no training for the all night dancing thing she did for children in need and just ate kit kats for goodness sake!

Watched both so far, yes it's very much if it's type genre wise but there's something different about it and some of the stories behind the people are very interesting and moving..

The ones with little or no formal training where they've composed what they're playing stand out and the ones where their music is deeply personal and relates to a loved one too..

Lucy was/is truly amazing and made my eyes dusty..

Two more places to see and then the concert which I hope they film..

I just loved Lucy. I must admit my eyes did start leaking so much I was considering calling a plumber. But that episode did have some truly gifted piano players.

I don’t normally watch these types of shows, especially if they are inundated with z list celebrities learning some new skill. But I saw the clips of Lucy online and decided she at least deserved my attention.

Finally watched the first one. It was very good but it felt a bit flat at the end. I don't know what I was expecting.

Was that an intentional pun?

I think we're used to people pleading with Simon Cowell and promising to give it 110% while talking about their journey. This is quite different in my opinion, gentler and not desperate.

Heart-warming or not, I can't watch these shows as my cynical head tells me there's a set up in there all along.

I have heard very good things about it - i missed the first one and can't find it on catch up, but have taped the second one.

I saw Lucy playing on gogglebox and wanted to get on my knees and just stare at the screen
