I love that the FA are doing this, great idea! Six songs by six artists each played over one round. Starts with bizzie today.
The vote will be open to the public and the winning song becoming the FA cup anthem.
my cynical side says this is just a record company generating free air play but the football/music fan in me is excited!
Who gets your vote ? |

To be honest, I really couldn't care and it will mean as much as the Premier League anthem played when teams come out each week, or for that matter the anthems for Champions League etc.
The anthem I want my team to come out to is You'll Never Walk Alone and it's the anthem I want playing at the beginning and end of every cup final.....
Having said that I always enjoy the FA Cup and am looking forward to watching Liverpool play at Mansfield tomorrow while hoping that The Hammers knock out that little club from manchester where the Manager seems to be on a permanent Rant!!! |

I disagree. I think its a good way of generating interest and excitement in the cup and when your shit team gets knocked out you still have the added buzz of having a wee flutter on the winning tune |

I personally think this is just another example where out of touch people charged with managing national institutions completely lose the plot and fail miserably to gauge public opinion…
You can’t forcibly implant new tradition into the national psyche….!.
Football fans are not performing seals …..ffs,,,,,,,,,

Not forgetting Abide with me either. The FA Cup already has a song attached to it |

Precisely…
We already have that wonderful traditional anthem which successful captures the combined vocal passion of opposing fans who’s team have made it to the final……..
But we all know once its sung the fan resort to singing their own songs... because they are there to support their own teams...
We’ve seen so many time in the past, where the England national squad have recorded an supposedly “anthemic” song in order to rally the fans only to have those fans reject it in favour of singing something like Vindaloo instead…
