Fed up with abusive messages so
I'm done
I may be back in the future that's why I've hid and not deleted my account

Two ways of dealing with this instead of leaving, use the filters to block anyone from mailing you then you can mail the people you want to speak to, then block and report if anyone is abusive and let Admin deal with them if needed.
If people don't report then any abusers will get away with it.

There are a few sanctions that Admin use of someone is abusive yes. Warnings, temp suspensions from the site altogether and perm suspension |

It takes energy to report and the messages are relentless. Sometimes it's also the sheer volume of gratuitous filth from entitled people who think we are just here to be used and abused that grinds you down. I regularly have to take a break - either totally or I just can't face reading messages.
Hope you bounce back OP as there is some wheat amongst the chaff on here that makes it worthwhile x |

So sorry that you are feeling as though you aren’t in control on here. I remember the feeling! I also had to have a break.
When I came back I had a much clearer idea of what I wanted and how I was going to make this site work for me.
Then I discovered my message filters. It was a game changer

It may be worth doing what I do instead of leaving. You can often tell with the first line of the message without opening it what kind of message it is. If not, click on the profile before opening it and you should get an idea of the type of person and if you’d be interested or not. If not I don’t open the message I just delete and block. That way you won’t have to read them. I probably open about one in 150 messages.
Having said that if your mindset is off and it’s really getting to you then a break is a good idea.

Sorry to read this - no-one should be hounded off by The Dickheads.
Take a break if that's what's right for you, but don't let them force you away, if you're enjoying it otherwise, and use the best ways to block/filter out that others have suggested, even if they're not 100%.
I guess what I'm saying - and appreciate it's easy to say when I'm not reading abusive messages - is don't cut your nose off to spite your face of there are bits of the site you're still enjoying, such as Nero's banquette. |
