...I just had some warm memories of going to gigs in Nottingham and the realisation that I haven't listened to Japandroids in too long.
Appreciate that OP
As far as being helpful, I only ever remember laughing my ass off in Pit & Pendulum when I'm there |

Dubai & Nottingham |
You might like the castle area, Dragon , Castle, salutation , trip to Jerusalem then one near Beerkeller on the corner on Friar Lane , they are all decent pubs and a bit alt. Hockley area is good too , more a cocktails & jazz & dance music scene - Lost Property is a nice underground bar in a sandstone cave & Bodega / Social is fun later on.
Let me know if you need a guide , I have a nose ring can maybe grow a beard by the weekend |

If you are looking for somewhere away fro the city centre, Mapperley Top and West Bridgeford have a good range of bars and pubs.
For the city centre, Nottingham has it all:
Commercial places such as Revolution, Revolution de Cubs, Pryzm, Slug and Lettuce and plenty of Spoon's
Live Blues and Jazz at Tilt and The Pelican Club
Urban bars such as Billionz and the Sky Bar in the Corner House
There are also a few pubs and bars on Derby Road (the town end near the Cathedral and Playhouse)
Is your gig at the Motorpoint Arena?
If it is, Hockley is only a few minutes walk from there and would be a good starting point as there are a good number of pubs and bars on the way to the main part of the city centre.
