It's so beautiful!
I'm excited to get home, the woods near us are blanketed by snowdrops and it's so magical. I'm going to wander through them in a long ballgown and live out my best tortured romantic souled heroine life. Listen to Ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine. Perfect. |

"I planted about twenty along a border. They all came up the first year but now most come up blind. I had 3 in bloom, but some bastard has nicked one!"
That's pure and utterly barbarism or bastardism As for your crop, not sure why. Mine come up year after year to my delight ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I think it's crap soil. More like gravel really, but I put a ball of good soil around each bulb and keep them fed. Not enough, apparently... |

I am sure that's it. You can always put them in a pot first and then put that in the ground deep enough so it does not show ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

"Wordsworth's worst poem, by a long mile.
I assume your heart is not dancing with daffodils then "
No, but it fills with pleasure when I see the dozen or so miniature doubles appear outside near my kitchen door at this time of year.
Inevitably the wind breaks some of their stalks and those end up in a vase indoors while their brothers ans sisters brave the hostile outdoor environment. |

"Daffodils opening up tentatively around Manchester.
Nothing tentative about mine. Right little coquettes they are "
Some can be quite brazen . Perhaps some of the highly fragrant Narcissus could be adopted in future seasons? Some smell like freesias, to my scent buds and are fairly dainty and pretty. |
