Super Glue. Used to stick anything to anything. Now it’s shit, even the brands like Loctite. Doesn’t set fast, teaks easy - the repair used to be stronger the the original.. did they have to remove a chemical or something?

What else is now a pale imitation of its former glory ?

Superglue (Cyanoacrylate) has not been changed over time, although there are a load of different types and strength. What has changed is the range of materials that we might try to stick together.

Personally, I have never really found superglue to be the best of adhesives, epoxy resins (Like Araldite) have always been my preferred glue.

Fly spray

Used to be one short spray in a room killed every bug in a few seconds.

Now they just fly through a direct hit.

"Super Glue. Used to stick anything to anything. Now it’s shit, even the brands like Loctite. Doesn’t set fast, teaks easy - the repair used to be stronger the the original.. did they have to remove a chemical or something?

What else is now a pale imitation of its former glory ?"

Gorilla glue works lol

Super Glue, was invented to stick people back together. Initially used, I think, during the Vietnam War to stick battlefield wounds while waiting for evacuation to hospitals. I've had it used on me to stick a flap of skin that had been sliced with a knife and wouldn't stop bleeding or start to knit back together.

Not quite right. It was *used* for that, but that's not why it was invented. It was discovered in 1942 during the development of clear plastic gunsights for the Second World War, patented in 1947, and made available as a commercial adhesive in 1958.

Mitre bond is quite good if used with its separate activator spray. Looks like super glue but once used with the activator it sticks pretty good.

"Use the gorilla super glue. Also comes with a handy brush.

I can't think of any examples to add though!

And gorilla duct tape. According to the advert you can saw a canoe in half and tape it back together.

I have used gorilla duck tape and it does what it says "

.

Tapes Gorillas and Ducks together...I think that's cruel

Google. There was a time, believe it or not, when you could get results that weren't all just shopping. I think it was 2010 or so they revised the algorithm. It's been much less useful since.
