"40-40

Knock down ginger."

Totally agree with Jõsey on this.

Sadly, we can't even play this anymore because everyone's got WiFi video doorbells and therefore the game is up before you even reach the front gate.

Kerby was a favourite home game with my brother ( stand on opposite sides of the road, throw a football and try to bounce the ball back to you off the edge of the kerb stone ) and school playtime’s was Block ( A kind of mix between British bulldog and hide and seek )

40-40;

Street lampost is "home". One person guards it the others hide. Those hiding have to return to "home" without being spotted by the guard. Touch the lampost with out being seen.

"40-40 Home" exclaimed loudly as the winner.

Hillsborough, NI

I have a vague memory of playing something I think we called space invaders..

Bunch of kids walking back and forth along a wall while the shooter kicked a ball and try hit someone, at which point they were out, and so on. sounds brutal but it wasn't.

We used to tape (sellotape) bangers (back when any age could buy them) to the little windows of phoneboxes....we learnt it was safer to tape them to the outside, fairly quickly!!!
