...what would you do with the time? Those of you seeking monogamous relationships as the ideal - would that change if it were to be 900+ years?
Presumably you wouldn't work in the same way in the same job? What places would you visit? How would it change your worldview? |

That’s the big question, isn’t it? Living for a millennium sounds great until you ask ‘erm, what age will I be? Physically?’ Youthful and healthy for a thousand years sounds fun. Decrepitude for a literal age does not. |

You'll age, but proportionally more slowly. So as your life expectancy will be increased about twelvefold, you will only age about one month per year. So if you are currently, say, 35, at 47 you would look 36, at 59 you'd look 37, and you wouldn't look 40 until you were actually 95. |

There’s a sort of inevitability to becoming a swinging couple though, isn’t there? Because if you love each other, then I think a relationship lasting that long would need quite flexible boundaries. |

I’d do all of the jobs I’ve ever fancied.
All of the hobbies and sports I’ve ever felt like trying.
Write write write it all down.
I’d probably have a fair bit of sex 
I’d travel around the world by every type of travel possible.
I’d read every book going. Or I’d read my favourite books in every library in the world.
I’d watch sunsets and sunrises from every continent.
I’d swim in every sea, ocean, lake stream. Stand under every waterfall.

Can I still get my state pension ?
If I had enough to retire on and be fit and well I would consider it. I would spend time travelling, boozing and enjoying good food.
Don't know if I would want to live for a thousand years though. I might not like what I see in the future. |

If it was just you though , imagine all the loved ones you’d lose along the way . It would be painful watching other people age and die while you carried on . In the end I think you’d be grateful when your 1000 years were up . And if your relative youth were prolonged so would your relative old age . Imagine having 50 years or more at approximately 95 |

Gosh, a 1000 years. I read Anne Rice, even her vampires got bored and weary of existence even with all the riches and eroticism in the world. But I guess they couldnt see sunsets and sunrises which would have helped while away a few hundred years. I would have to go round the globe a few times, but alas I do feel it would be a lonely existence. |

Oh. Well this isn't quite as fun as it could be. I'd have to be rather sensible and not give into my hedonistic urges.
I think I'd do something similar to Misty.
Love recklessly, passionately. Unreserved, unafraid. Form bonds, explore them, live in the moment without being hung up on what's to come.
Learn voraciously, devour books, study, challenge myself. Relish the ability of my mind, the potential.
Help. Help others. Communities. Use my years to try and leave the world a slightly better place. A happier one. Whether that's on an individual level or greater.
Enjoy my body - do the hobbies, learn the instruments I've always wanted to. Have sex. Lots of. Explore my kinks, my fantasies. Other people.
See. The world. The places I've read in text, I've heard discussed with such delighted tones.
And rest. With my toes dipped in sun dappled streams in woods. On the chests of lovers. In the embrace of family. In yoga retreats in far off places, meditating as the sun sets.

This is exactly how to live life anyway, of course. But some of us spent 40+ years too frightened or constrained by circumstance to do so, so fantasising about a much longer period is a lovely pastime. |

On the other hand, having to work for 1000 years doesn't sound very appealing. Not does 1000 years of trying to decide what to have for dinner each night. But the offer of 1000 years of computer gaming is rather tempting...

What an interesting question. I guess I’d plugged myself into solving some big problems that don’t even exist yet , definitely learn a bunch of languages Arabic for starters and probably have a very large family , 100 or so children. |

I feel that! Everyone would get a deposit of £10,000 on their 18th birthday, untouchable until they were 150 (but the current equivalent of around 30). At 4% interest that would give you around £2 million: the interest would let you survive, but of course you'd add to it as you worked. I shouldn't think anyone would NEED to work for at least the last 750 or so years of their life, unless they were particularly craving luxury. |

Work as normal first couple hundred years and at same time collect things which will go in value.
Once collected enough things which go up in value quit job and continue collecting things which go up in value and sell on as they increase value.
Try to educate the World not to make same mistakes as the past and teach people the history and why things were how they were and to forgive the past. |

I keep starting responses to this then deleting because the truth is I just don't know.
The prospect of 1000 years alive is daunting (to say the least) to those of us used to the idea of child, adult, old person, death in the space of less than 100 years.
I suspect that Mr N and I would stick with each other because apart from the fact that we're in agreement that nobody else would put up with us and we still have a lot we want to do.
This also got me thinking about time and it's passing. My paternal grandfather was born in 1894, his life seems to have passed in a blink so 1000 years isn't that long really.
I suspect that if I was suddenly told I would live another 900 odd years I'd be very upset and take a long time to come to terms with it |

If you think how much the world has changed since 1023 I can't begin to imagine what it'll be like in 3023. There'd be a hell of a party on new years eve 2999 though and some of my clothes would have come back in fashion |

It's an odd one. I would want my family to be with me but I would also want to see my future generations.
I would also like to see how the world changes so as long as the younger members of the family can still procreate then yes I would. If it ended with just my family that was already here and the world didn't change then no |
