Every year, mice take up residence in my living room for the winter, and I have to put poison down to get ride of them.
I feel a bit rotten about this, because they leave little presents for me on the floor in front of my armchair.
The first one I noticed was a shinny new 1-inch nail. Next was a large soft ball of fluff and hair for making a nest. This morning I found a shinny new dress-maker’s pin.
Have you ever received gifts from supposedly dumb creatures?

"I always wanted to train a crow to steal money or gold for me but that may be a bit unethical
Trying to feather your nest?"
I could go swimming in gold like Scrooge McDuck |

They leave sharp nails and pins by your chair? It sounds like they're laying their own traps for you! |

Why don't you use a plastic bucket piece of wood on the side the one across the top but thin through a can put some dents in it and put some peanut butter on it they'll fall in the bucket then buy a cage and keep them as pets |

"Well then you must poison them no more! They are trying to buy their freedom. "
I agree in principle, but I’m allergic to mouse wee. They dribble urine all the time they travel to mark the way back home. And they travel everywhere! |

Be careful if you have have cats or owls that other animals around, as if they eat the mouse it will kill them too. It takes time for the mice to die so an animal can catch a live mouse after it had invested the poison and then it will kill the cat or other animal also. |

According to the poison manufacturers, the mice go home to die. I don’t know where this is, but I have no pets, and “home” is unlikely to be accessible to predators. I really wish I could find out how the mice gain access to my living room. |

I really do hope that is true, recently I was trying to help a cat who had been poisoned from eating a rat who had eaten rat poison.
It unfortunately was one of the most unpleasant moments of my life.
I totally understand there's a limit to what we can control in trying to sort out the best solution for these problems. |
