A couple of months ago or so joined the masses and bought an air fryer. At first thought it was OK but not happy really and now got rid of it but would like to replace for something matching my specification.

Primary requirement for me is that it has to be

**energy efficient so I need to know it scores highly on that, fact not assumption

**has to be for at least 3/4 people

**able to fit a meat joint or small/medium chicken for roasting

**accommodate all components of dinner and ideally simultaneously that would normally use an oven for ie. Meat, potatoes, roast veg etc.

**be relatively quiet as the last one could wake the dead.

Any recommendations for one from those that have been praising them in thread after thread on here please? If I am having another one, I want one to replace the oven not to just have another appliance in the kitchen that I rarely use.

Your help with this will be much appreciated

"Which airfryer did you have? "

I thought someone will ask . I better not say really. I rather someone recommended one they use a lot and are happy with. Btw, mine was not a well known one as none of those were available at the time - it was just after the frenzy. Though not keen spending a fortune on one either unless it's just out of this world and does not compare to anything else.

There's a reason ovens have been around so long. By the time you've bought two air fryers thats a years worth of gas cooking in a massive lovely oven

Sorry, but I’m going to be one of *those* people.

I thought, misguidedly, that fabswingers would be the one place where I could avoid conversations about air fryers.

But no!

I know someone that uses a thermal cooker who says it's been great not only for general cooking like what you describe but also saving on costs.

I looked them at them a while ago and couldn't really figure them out. I think you cook food to get them to a temperature, then transfer them to the cooker and let the residual heat do the rest of the cooking.

Have a look - I'm not really sure. I think they are like a thermos flask, they aren't powered at all but do cook very well from reviews. Great for stews, curry's, roasts.

Alternatively - if you have a gas hob, have you thought about a stand-alone infrared hob/hotplate (or induction one if you have appropriate pans)

I probably tend to agree, though I use the oven quite a lot. Btw, I got the other one on offer and someone got it from me and did not really lose much money

Ok we have a ninja foodi dual zone airfryer. From what you say I don't think an airfryer is the gadget for you
