Sorry to say this but there was a recent thread which was titled..

"What place would you never return to?"

And Tunisia was one of the most mentioned places.

Yes. Did a trip into the Sahara which was cool but it was over 20 year ago. Things change.

Been quite a few times to all inclusive hotel complexes and no issues. Weather great so long as you like it hot in summer months.

"Bring a peg for you’re nose, it stinks!"

Very critical on one point. Some places hide smells. But far worse lurks underneath.

When we point 1 finger! Many point back at us lol

Take a bullet proof vest if you visit the beach.

And quite rightly go through various western government guidance on visiting Tunisia. Stuff might not be in the news but that’s not to say it’s not there.

That way you can make an informed decision.

I went years ago to Skanes.

The beach and sea were beautiful and there was so much for everyone to do.

We did get dodgy stomachs for a few days but the kids loved it.

We did a two day coach trip around the country that was interesting.

My nephew says it's the best holiday he's ever been on.

Our hotel did a different country's food every evening along with soup, pasta and salads.

The people were really lovely and the hotel was immaculately clean.

I'd go back.

We had a camel ride into the Sahara. It was so peaceful.

We see and view what we wish to. From the perception we build in our very own minds of people and places.

Very high expectations and otherwise yet what do we have to offer really??

Just coz we pay, dont mean we are correct and right!!

Peace onto all fabbers

Smell the coffe.

I love North Africa and the Middle East I love the desert and mountain vibe.

I would be charging round the desert rather than hitting the beach.

Guessing this is a reference to the 2015 terrorist attacks which resulted in western countries putting Tunisia on a don't travel list. That has been lifted and we went in 2019. All inclusive was great and the Tunisians were really friendly and grateful to have westerners back (a lot of Russians had been there in the intervening years and with so few western tourists they were taking the piss - arrogant, rude, not tipping, exploiting the locals).

I've heard mixed reports. It's one destination I wouldn't go back to, but hopefully you'll have a better experience. It was rough 20 years ago. Hotels beautiful, but it just felt dirty and not safe elsewhere.

We'd certainly never return to Tunisia, made the mistake of giving it a second go after an unpleasant first holiday there and it was worse second time round.

Lovely place but too much hassle from the locals. Really spoilt the holiday. Wouldn't go back if they paid me.

The being hassled was horrible. Ended up not leaving the hotel after going out the first day.

I'm sorry there are so many negative comments, when you're going on your honeymoon no less. I don't know why people do that when you're clearly excited. Like anywhere there are clearly mixed feelings. I'm sure you'll make the most of it and hope you have a lovely time! I haven't been myself but I know people who have and have had a great time. Enjoy!

I thought it was ok. I’d go back.

I have a sensitive nose and visibly wretch at smells but I don’t remember it smelling bad.

If you like the bartering culture you’ll love it there. I don’t and found them a bit too pushy in their approach but i understand it’s not personal

And yes in peak summer it's very hot. Not for everyone.

Thanks, folks.

I'm happy to say that the negative posts didn't match our experience at all. The bartering was a bit much, but I (Jack) have been to India so was not unfamiliar with it.

Didn't notice any unpleasant smells at all.

We had the BEST time!
