Happens all the time but doesn't bother me, one poster told me what to do, wait until they are offline then nose at their pics and delete if you don't like them |

It's a daily thing,
I figure they want to perv pics, or staus updates without the fuss of having to make contact/be rejected.
The other side of me says it's a way of showing an interest, and allowing you to see their pics (whilst they are offline), and decide if you want to start a chat or not though.
Its akin to sending a face pic sometimes |

We do this all the time, we have it written in our profile that we are very likely to do just that, so if they send an unsolicited FR I take it that they are giving me consent to do just that

I'm sure a lot of you have experienced my following comment - I today received a friend request from a couple in USA, not for the first time either.. I've declined them all.. Yes I know sometimes it's good to have a chat with people whether your planning to meet or not (in the UK) but between countries is abit too far.. |

Me, I either ignore or block now. I know sometimes if using a phone they can be sent accidentally instead of a wink, but surely if you knew you'd sent one in error you'd message and apologise for the friend invite. |

If you look closer at the menu on the left when viewing someone's profile you'll see that the 'add to hotlist' link is directly beneath the 'invite as a friend' link. I think a lot of people click one when they meant to click the other, which isn't so bad if you add to hotlist when you meant to invite as a friend, but if you only want to add someone to a hotlist (because you haven't messaged them yet, or don't know them from the forums for example) then it can be embarrassing to click the 'invite' link by mistake. |

I guess “some” spurious friend invites result from the transition whereby many site members now access the site via small touch screen devices where its fairly easy to inadvertently activate a wink or friend invite while browsing random profiles….. |
