Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

There is an odd, blinkered movement that offers the argument that Drag Queens should not be reading stories to children.

Clowns and panto are fine though.

I think it's probably more damaging for the children to see grown adults, quite a lot of them cis women, threatening and screaming at them and their families going into a library or gallery.

Their 'think of the children' / 'protect children' argument falls down with this sort of behaviour.

I think when people state there is no need for Pride events and that being gay or bi "isn't an issue" these days, we should remind them of things like this

I don't understand it! How is a Drag Queen different to a Pantomime Dame! People take their kids to the Pantomime each year.

Here's a shocker, the kids don't give a damn....they just love a story

Section 28 only ended in 2003... and we're fast approaching seeing something similar appear.

Drag Queens are artists in their own right. I don't see the problem in a drag queen reading a story to children. I recently went to an amateur Pantomime where the lead male character was played by a female. Nobody batted an eyelid.

The Principal Boy in panto is traditionally played by a woman.

Aspull

Wonder if these people would protest a story time done by a priest and church?

Not really. The whole outrage about Drag queen story time is more of a right wing rage that's spilled over from America. The sticky motorway people are more left wing environmentalist people
