Whats your favourite rally car?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Across the years rally racing has given us some truly awesome cars.
I have a think for old group b rally cars...
I'm not sure I can honestly pick just one....
Do like the aldi quatrro.... or the metro 6r4 ( not really a metro though)
So let's have your favourite. |

Randomly the only thing left of the metro used on the 6r4 was part of the windscreen surround and a couple of bits of trim. Then the slapped a jag xj220 lump in it and made it normally aspirated
The sound it makes incredible however can’t beat the horniness of the Audi 5 pot
So let's have your favourite. " |

Not sure I could narrow it down to 1.
Huge fam of the MK1s and MK2 (not a huge surprise given I'm Irish).
Love the tarmac spec maxi rally cars ad well. The 306 and Megane were immense.
Corolla WRC is another big favourite.
From the group B era you can't go wrong with a T16 205
Classic shape Impreza WRC, again in tarmac spec |

"Short sport Quattro , lances delta integrale and metro 6r4 .
Group B was bonkers "
Couldn't agree more, anything from the group B era was nuts and nothing has come slightly close since. Lee |

So many to choose from! During the Group B era it was probably the Lancia at the time or the 6R4 which is my favourite as I look back, otherwise the Ford's "scort" or posibly the Lancia 037 which I liked even more than the stratos. |

My all time favourite is without doubt the Audi Quattro, that distinctive sound still haunts me now

The 'Aldi' Quattro??
They really will sell anything, won't they.
But it must be so much cheaper than the German version

The Lancia 037 was a pretty car and very capable.
Fords Mk2 RS 1800 became iconic and is still a joy to behold when driven with commitment.
A neighbour of mine in the village was a Ford Motor Company employee involved in their rally dept and had an RS 200 for many years. Of the Group B 4x4 brigade it was the most aesthetically pleasing.
Of the Group A cars of the mid to late 80’s the Toyota AE 86, but then I am a bit biased on that as I have one |

"Gotta be the Lancia 037 Group B. Pure muscle with Italian style.
sex on wheels
I had a go in one once. Just a couple of pax laps round a tarmac track, but still … that roar. Oooft." I've been on a lap in most of the group b cars except the lancia... have seen one in the flesh a few times. Sooo nice |

Ha ha, sorry. I couldn't resist.
And now we know you type 'Aldi' more than you type 'Audi'. |

"Of the modern era, and I'm shocked to hear myself say this, I like the Ford Puma Rally1
That said I liked the original Puma as a rally car as well"
Someone local to us has just bought an ex rally Ford Puma for a project!

What an amazing thread! I've grown up with motorsports and love a good day out at Knockhill or a rally.
For me it has to be the Audi Quattro...what a machine

Grew up working on minis and time served with Ford. So has to be the mini cooper and nearly all the rally Ford's that were made.
Also liked the mini metro 6R4 what a beast that was. Not a fan of audis but the quattro was an amazing vehicle at the time |

When thinking about rallying 2 cars immediately pop into my head firstly the T.M.E mitsubishi evo 6.5 that Tommy makkenin drove and the carlos sientz Toyota celica gt4 (I know my spelling is rubbish but it really doesn't bother me) |
