Whats your favourite rally car?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By *ittleMissCali OP   Woman  over a year ago

all loved up

Across the years rally racing has given us some truly awesome cars.

I have a think for old group b rally cars...

I'm not sure I can honestly pick just one....

Do like the aldi quatrro.... or the metro 6r4 ( not really a metro though)

So let's have your favourite.

Quattro is mine, purely for the simple reason it was a technical showcase and the tech still lives on.

Then the other is the RS200, because I come from a Ford family and these cars were nutty.

Randomly the only thing left of the metro used on the 6r4 was part of the windscreen surround and a couple of bits of trim. Then the slapped a jag xj220 lump in it and made it normally aspirated

The sound it makes incredible however can’t beat the horniness of the Audi 5 pot

So let's have your favourite. "

Not sure I could narrow it down to 1.

Huge fam of the MK1s and MK2 (not a huge surprise given I'm Irish).

Love the tarmac spec maxi rally cars ad well. The 306 and Megane were immense.

Corolla WRC is another big favourite.

From the group B era you can't go wrong with a T16 205

Classic shape Impreza WRC, again in tarmac spec

So many to choose from! During the Group B era it was probably the Lancia at the time or the 6R4 which is my favourite as I look back, otherwise the Ford's "scort" or posibly the Lancia 037 which I liked even more than the stratos.

The Lancia 037 was a pretty car and very capable.

Fords Mk2 RS 1800 became iconic and is still a joy to behold when driven with commitment.

A neighbour of mine in the village was a Ford Motor Company employee involved in their rally dept and had an RS 200 for many years. Of the Group B 4x4 brigade it was the most aesthetically pleasing.

Of the Group A cars of the mid to late 80’s the Toyota AE 86, but then I am a bit biased on that as I have one

It has to be the Group B cars of the 70's, probably the Lancia Stratos or the Metro 6R4. I also have a soft spot for the Ford E?corts after working on both Mk1 and 2 and eventually owning a Mk1
