When I was growing up the most we'd have a year is 6. One on every person's birthday, and on the day we got back from holiday and my parents were too tired to cook.
I definitely have more than that as an adult, but still no more than about 10 or 12 times a year. They're enjoyable but can make me feel all greasy and fat.
Are they a treat for you? A regular thing? Will you always use the same shop and order the same food, or do you like to experiment? |

As a family, we'd get takeaway pizza every Friday night and sit down together to watch wrestling while eating. Always from the same place and always the same order.
Now, I very rarely have it due to diet changes and wanting to eat better but will have it if I'm really craving it. I would say maybe 5-10 times a year but thank you OP because you've unlocked a memory that I'm now getting all nostalgic over |

Used to be once a week when we both got home from our respective bases during the week and we couldn't bothered to cook after the commute.
Now..... Maybe once every other month. More of a necessity than a treat. |

Aww, that's really sweet. Also, that's reminded me that my sister refused to eat Chinese food so my dad had to go to the chip shop first to order her chicken, then go to the Chinese for what everyone else wanted, then back to the chip shop for her food. I remember sitting in the car with the food warming my lap while he faffed about |

Till I was a teen - never at home
Once I had my own money - once a month
Once I had a car - I lived between two McDs and used to alternate between them weekly.
Before kids - once a month but we ate out regularly
After kids - every 2 weeks I'd say now.

Not very often, perhaps once a month...usually when I've had to travel to a meeting (13-14 hours out of the house doesn't generally fill me with the inspiration or energy to cook a healthy meal when I get home).
When I'm with himself, we tend to go to a restaurant at least once a week (the restaurants there are so damn good), but we we also enjoy cooking together. |

Takeaway is no longer the majority of stodge of the 80’s and 90’s - although could get a quality Italian pizza and salads quite easy.
I hate to admit I probably order out about 3-5 times a week. I would not say it’s bad at all though, as one of those maybe a quality Italian pizza and a side, but during the week it’s sushi, Turkish, Greek, Portuguese (not Nando’s) etc. All low fat but plenty of protein, albeit salt maybe high in some.
I’d love to cook more, but working very long hours and commuting for hours on too means convenience is a factor.
I eat well enough at breakfast and lunch, and work out a lot to be able to accommodate it. |

Never had a meal delivered during the 40+ years I have lived here.
We have an assortment of takeways in the village, must be about 4 years since I last used one of them.
I spend too much money on eating out a couple of times a week though, it would be more if it were not for my Chinese son in laws Mother and Sister who both have their own restaurants.
I do eat well at home having adopted the batch meals system.
I was also gifted a Ninja Air Fryer for my recent birthday so will experiment with that until the novelty wears off. |

I make my own these days. Curry mostly, it's better than any take away ive had (curry)
Look for a guy on YouTube called Misty Ricardo to show you how
With the help of the Internet you can reproduce any take away you want now. KFC, Indian, Chinese, Pizza, Kebabs |

Fully with you on a Chinese only on a Saturday. The Mrs thinks I'm strange.
Chinese doesn't feel right on any other day.
We only have 1 takeaway a week now. So if we have a midweek one, no Chinese on the Saturday |

I’m having one tonight! Another forumite mentioned she was getting Chinese so it’s entirely her fault, of course
I probably get 2-3 per month because I don’t enjoy cooking for one, usually Chinese or pizza. Also eat out a lot because it’s a change of scenery (and how sad for me does that feel).
Not sure why, but curries never seem as good taken away. |

Just about the only time i have a take away is if it's an Indian. For the simple reason that the only way you can get a fresh Keema Naan is from a take away. Certainly no supermarket i have ever been in sells Keema Naans. |

Is a takeaway being classed as Chinese/curry etc or is McDonald’s and those type of places included.
For stuff like dominos/Chinese/curry/Greek it goes in cycles where we might have it once a week for 6 weeks but then not at all 3 months. I haven’t had a one since the end of dec.
If you include things like McDonald’s/eating out at pubs, Softplays (with my kids obv ), cafes then god knows. Probably twice a week.

"Never had a meal delivered during the 40+ years I have lived here."
We've been here nearly 13 years and probably only had one delivered about 3 times. We live literally a minutes walk from 5 different takeaways. |

Too often. Once, sometimes twice a week. Trying to cut down to once a month but sometimes after work I’m just too tired to be arsed to cook. I need to stop though as it’s costing too much money. I guess with the cost of gas and electric gone up I’ll be forced to cut back. |

Maybe once a month. It's hassle to get in the car to go and get it. I can have something tasty cooked in the time it takes to go and collect it and bring it home |
