I had a day off today, and have planned to consume the last of the festive food and drink.
Cut down will start tomorrow, along with spending time on the exercise bike to burn off the 3kg I put on since beginning of Dec 12, and to get myself into a better shape to go on dirt tracks with the dog when the weather is nicer and days are longer.

Not me I feel really uncomfortable if I eat too much so just stick to what I can manage. I never understand the pigout thing as you always feel terrible afterwards. |

Pig out is great once in a while.
I need to lose some weight by the time I visit my mum in the Far East in Nov 2013, so that I can eat lots and lots of yummy food.

I lost 4 stone in 14 months with WW online as I can't be bothered going to classes. Main thing for me is I only eat bread at weekends now and even then it's the small loaf I buy and only have about 4 slices from it over the 2 days. My carb intake is quite low but I eat loads of veg and I bought smaller plates.
Aim to shift a further 3 stone this year and have set a goal of 1 stone off by the end of April which is very doable if I don't faff around at it |

Same here. I never buy anything extra, apart from the turkey. Can't understand the excesses at all.
I had a couple of chocolate oranges (swoon!) but nothing to break the bank. |

"Why do carbs get such a bad name when it comes to putting on weight ?"
Carbs are converted to instant energy so eat too many and the body has one hell of a lot of energy to use up. If it isn't used up it's stored as fat.
We need carbs but modern refining has given us easy access to processed carbs. We can get them too easy now e.g cereals and sugar. |

"Since I broke up from work I eat pure shit hahaha must of put a good stone on, big time detox now ANy particualr detox you advocate? "
The body detoxes naturally.
All it needs is simple food and water.
Just detox over a week or so before as a pre health regime.
e.g don't eat ANY processed foods. Drink water and juices and eat natural foods with essential nutrients like vitamin C, E, B2, bioflavinoids, beta-carotene, alpha lipoic acid, DMAE, glutathione, selenium and zinc.
DON'T fall for detox sales talk. Lot's of money is made or lost on people thinking they need stupid stuff from magazines or health shops. The body has a digestive system and a fabulous detox system called the intestine and the colon. You do NOT need colonic irrigation just eat right.
Best thing to do it think short and long term.
In the short term do as said above. In the long term don't toxify your body in the first place.
The vast majority of food in a supermarket is shit. |

Get a really good quality home juicer and detox with fresh fruit and vegetables.
A week of pure juicing will shed you about ten pounds and clean you out really well. It also feels great buying cabbage, celery, carrots and spinach on an industrial scale for a week!

At last someone with knowledge about diet, free radicals and ridding the body of toxins. Some simple golden rules are.
.
1. Cut out all sugar laden drinks including so-called diet drinks.
2. Cut out processed foods. Cook fresh foods.
3. Reduce your drink consumption. Lots of calories in alcoholic drinks guys.

I was curious though if anybody recommended a 1 to 3 day post Christmas detox - I did not go mad over Christmas but still a bit more rubbish then I would normally have. All left overs are binned now, including any frozen stuff. |

I do the Atkins diet, don't think it's too good for your health as I always feel like shite on it but damn it works. I drop my carb intake to under 20 a day!
It's a boring diet and while chicken and red meat sounds good you soon get fed up with it.
Can't have any sugar either.
I need to lose a stone and tone my self back up again
Good luck on your diet peeps!

Forgot to mention that if you are of a certain age then it's worth going to the Doctors for an 'MOT'. This should involve a blood test to measure
.
Blood Glucose
LDL and HDL Cholesterol
Kidney function
etc
.
It's surprising how many overweight people have Type-2 Diabetes or are Borderline Diabetics and they don't know it.
.
Make it your New Years Resolution.
