Have you seen the new stamp of king charles?

From the land of haribos.

There is a new stamp and it is a portrait of king charles. I like it do you? It will be on 1st and 2nd class stamps. I almost typed prince rather than king, it takes a time to get used too

Well, no, she was around a long time. The stamps have just been updated with the current monarch.

Hi, Shag.

What do you think of the tradition where the monarch has to face the opposite way from the previous incumbent?

I think it's his birth right to face right and he shouldn't be left to face left.

Am I right? Or should it be left to tradition?

For anyone who's unsure what stamps are, they're a way of paying for royal mail to deliver a letter and a letter is like an email but a bit slower.

Very dignified looking stamp I think.

Fun fact, each monarch faces the opposite direction from the last which is why Charles is facing left.

I never knew that. What's the tradition/reason behind that??

Interesting he's chosen not to wear a crown in the image used.

Lots of them don't.. George vi Edward viii... I think there's some of elizabeth without. I like it. Looks very similar to some of the George ones though.

I hadn't thought of him facing his people.

It's called a "Definitive stamp" - a stamp that consists solely of the monarchs’ head and value of the stamp on a plain coloured background and with no embellishments whatsoever.

The King is facing •left• just like his mother before him.

I am led to believe that the monarch on a stamp always faces left, so therefore towards the envelope.

The banknote I believe faces alternate directions

Just around the corner

I like the stamp but I think his cipher is rather old fashioned. It looks like it ought to be on a “keep calm and carry on” poster.
