Do they actually work?
Rather than spend money on ads surely using that money to lower the costs of their goods would be far better, especially in the current climate.
Perfect example Supermarkets, would an ad ever get you to change where you shop? |

Prices will never reduce accross the board.
Ther'll always be sale and special offer items but the shops will never lose money as they will probably add a penny or two onto other items at the same time.
As for ads changing where I shop as I don't have any supermarket loyalty.
It Sainsburys one week and perhaps Morrissons the next.
I do like to pop into Aldi and Lidl though, but only for a handful of items, not the weekly shop. |

They do actually work in the main but are becoming less relevant with the advent of on demand services, internet advertising and social media adverts generating more actual converted customers. These days they tend to be used as a headline to a campaign OP. Hope this helps and it’s from direct experience |

Lets put it this way.. if you remember an ad or its tune or the daft whatever. They have done their job.
Because you will always think of the product in the scenario. If your thinking off it your percentage chance of buying it is higher...

"If someone's paying to have their product or service relentlessly pushed on tv (British Gas, for example), I avoid them like the plague.

Yes, it's a bit like the Mobile networks.
Find a better use for the money. |

I can't be doing with adverts so I download via torrents all my TV shows and movies that I want to watch then add them to my Plex Server. I also watch YouTube on my TVs via a free app on an android device that strips out all the adverts on there. I've never been in a shop and thought 'I have no idea what to bye and I obviously need help from some marketing executive.' |
