How old for their first smart phone?

Oh god the constant parental dilemma of making sure your children aren't feeling odd compared to their contemporaries and keeping their expectations realistic.
If I was the parent of a youngster now and I agreed to them having a smart phone I would insist on parental locks and a no secrets policy which involved them showing me their phone if asked.
I think I'd say 11 possibly 13. |

My Grandson had one at the age of 10, he is now 13 and has what I think is an i phone 10
My eldest grandaughter has a smart phone and she is only 7 dont know which model.
I still live in the Nokia age. |

Ours were in year 6 (not age 6) as it’s when the school encourage them to walk to school on their own. The phones had very limited applications and locked themselves at set times. |
