it worked in the 19's..
When did we stop using it in the 19s? If I am asked for my year of birth I just say '65."
accept as individuals that is how we would describe such a date, birthday, marriage etc..
more 'formally' perhaps, i think the use of 19 as a prefix for an event was commonplace..
eg. world cup in '66 would'nt be referred to by say the beeb as having took place in 1 thousand 9 hundred and 66..

Sorry! I noticed that people used to two thousand and one, and so on, until we got to 2011 and then it was twenty eleven. It got me thinking about when we might drop the twenty and if others are still saying two thousand.
Up will be on soon and I'll stop having stupid thoughts for 10 minutes. |

Heard this discussion on the radio a few weeks ago. Simple way to look at it is to pick any date in history - say, 1854 - and how would you say that? Eighteen-Fifty Four. So the same applies to 2013.. so... Twenty-Thirteen.
Well, that's what Radio 4 reckoned..

I have many stupid thoughts but thank you for suggesting otherwise.
The silent movie section at the beginning of Up is a perfect and complete film in and of itself. I laugh and cry. Now the thoughts will come back.  |

I would say 20 13 and I would suggest you say 65 because it can only be 1 65 its not 20 65 or 1865, I would say once we reach 20 66 people will see world cup 19 66 rather than just 66 |
