Technically I was in the rmr but I know that I'm not in the same league as those gents but I think I helped some of the youth to decide they wanted to do there part and serve in the forces. At the last count it was 2 rm 5 in the army 4 in the ta and 9 in the navy |

Hi. Well for me it was an utter eye-opening experience. The youngsters soon realise its not a computer game.
I look back with complete mixed emotions.

Ex RAF Sooty for 15 years. Did retrain as an AT(M) but never really understood that rigger shit!
As for the recent conflict thing, my part was all about making sure the aircraft could fly to support the troops. When you saw a cargo bay full of supplies being loaded, or battle weary troops disembarking it all made sense, but I guess being back from the front line has a different perspective on things. |

Did three stints at Kandahar/Bastion, aircraft tech. Although I didn’t go “in the field” it was still a scary place to be. At times I saw the bad side, but overall it was a good experience to have. It helped that I was working with a good team and we knew we were all in the same shit situation. It does feel pointless now considering that the taliban (or whatever name they’re going under) are back in power so feels like it was pointless in the end |

Was never in the army.
But had civilian jobs with the army growing up in Aldershot.
Had a good job at the Cambridge military hospital as a porter.
Sadly a lot of the barracks are gone now and replaced with housing.
So to have the pubs used by so many of the military.

I remember the tower block.
I used the mess hut across the road from the hospital.
80 pence for a meal and 30 pence for a pudding.
The food was amazing.
I'm sure St Omar made one of the royal wedding cakes. |

My mum died in the CMH, we lived about 400m or so away in married quarters.
CMH hasn't been converted into posh flats - not sure if I'd want to
O live there, too many ghosts. |

Sadly so did my old nan.
It was a much love hospital.
I remember the corridor was over a quarter mile long.
We use to work with 41 squadron picking up MFO boxes from Liphook and delivering them to the married quarters. |
