Real women v real men

This one is a bit about language, meaning and use.

We quite often see "real woman" used, either as in "I'm a real woman" or "I like real women"... Rarely do we see...

"I'm a real man" or "I'd like a real man".

So.. Does the "real" part of the phrase have different meaning for men or women and if people do use that expression.. What does it actually mean?

I real life, I do. But on Fab I've surprisingly seen more references to a woman with curves being a real woman.

Yep. And it's oft used by men to say that's what they want compared to *insert some derogatory term for slimmer women*.

Yes I've seen it used in that context. But I wonder if "real man" then means men with curves or larger men as opposed to *slimmer*?

No. It's actually a very interesting point. "Real" men are seen as those displaying very traditional, stereotypical behavioural traits. "Real" women is a comment on the aesthetics.

Same with everything though. We should value how men behave (grrrrr - caveman) and we should value how women look. That's how life works

Yep. Utter bugbear of mine and I'm so glad someone picked up on what I was trying to articulate. You see it frequently on here. In real life (as opposed to fora based) even more sadly.

Yep, and fab is no different in that respect, except perhaps that the cuntish behavior of certain women will be excused even more on here because of their looks

Yep. One example is people asking for interview advice. Female requesters get lots of advice about what to wear. Male requesters get more advice about how to behave during the interview e.g. use STAR method.

I've seen a few "real woman" comments in the forums usually in response to a woman claiming to be unhappy about how she looks or how she isn't body confident. It's often offered as reassurance that men prefer a "real woman" but doesn't always read well.

I've seen many more "real man" comments on profiles either by women seeking one or men claiming to be one so it's usually seen as a behavioural trait.

Social media has made this even worse IMO, no matter what you look like, you need filters/fillers/"work" to improve things

Ah yes, make-up, seen by many as a basic necessity for women to appear presentable

A ‘real woman’ looks like Marilyn Monroe, a ‘real man’ would die defending Andrew Tate.

Or something.

"To be honest OP

No I think that is the point, simply the use of language. Notwithstanding that "real man" seems as widely used as "real woman" (equal opportunities and all that). That someone talked to it above.. For women it generally seems to be about the physical and for men less physical and more behavioural. Whether that be alpha or caveman or gentleman (or others).

No idea… you’d have to ask them that use that phrase what they mean.

All women are real to me….although come to think of, it’s impossible, to distinguish reality from a vividly imagined experience…..maybe we’re all in the matrix and none of us are real ?

The term used in either context, man or woman has always been something that irks me.

You do quite often hear a certain kind of person use the tag for themselves and it’s almost always to portray themselves in a manner which they’d like to be seen.

I think it's a sign of how lost people are these days.

It's tough to find an identity and lane in life.

I see a real man as one who has matured to adulthood and can competently hold their own.

I'd appreciate a sidekick/ partner in life not a person who is over-dependant by choice.

Weaponised incompetence is dire.
