I am not sure if there is any non anecdotal evidence how long is it really safe and probably depends on a wearers personal comfort. The number which rings in my head for some reason is approx 2 to 3 hours but where did i get this piece of info - no idea. The area is so sensitive that I'd be worried of causing damage with prolonged use so just go by how you feel? Build up to it gradually ? I'm sure the material it's made of is will be a factor too. Some are more comfortable than others to move around in..

"I once wore mine throughout a 2-week holiday to Corfu without any issues….
Presumably removing it on occasion for a poo
"
And whilst going through customs if metal.
Always embarrassing when it sets off the metal detectors........

"Surely it can't be that bad since plenty of people walk around with a stick up their arse 24/7 365 days a year. "
This guy I knew had a gold watch up his arse in a prison camp for 5 years after he got shot down over Hanoi and then when he died of dysentery he gave it to me to hide up my arse. 2 years later I got out and gave it to his infant son. That gold watch was his birthright.
